Senior Test Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Test Engineer to support the delivery of complex cloud transformation and modernisation programmes.

This is a hands-on role focused on quality engineering and test automation across legacy, hybrid and cloud-native environments. You will work closely with engineering, architecture and delivery teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing

• Define and implement effective test approaches across complex digital products and services.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks covering functional, regression and end-to-end testing.
• Build BDD and E2E automation using tools such as Cypress, Cucumber and Gherkin.
• Integrate automated testing and quality gates into GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Validate functional and data parity as services transition from legacy applications to modern cloud-native architectures.
• Test integrations across REST/JSON APIs, SOAP services and backend systems.
• Support testing across modern application stacks including Node.js and Angular.
• Work with engineering teams modernising legacy technologies including Oracle PL/SQL and C#/.NET.
• Support performance, stress and load testing using tools such as k6 and JMeter.
• Contribute to security testing and assurance aligned with OWASP and relevant security standards.
• Identify, investigate and communicate defects, risks and quality issues throughout delivery.
• Work collaboratively within Agile teams using tools such as Jira.
• Champion test automation, continuous testing and quality engineering practices.

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer, Automation Test Engineer or similar.
• Strong experience developing automated testing frameworks.
• Experience with Cypress, Cucumber/Gherkin or comparable automation tooling.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience testing APIs, integrations and distributed systems.
• Good understanding of REST/JSON APIs and exposure to SOAP/XML-based services.
• Experience testing cloud-based applications and services.
• Good understanding of functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing.
• Experience working within Agile software engineering teams.
• Ability to work closely with developers, architects and other technical specialists.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

• AWS and Kubernetes environments.
• Cloud-native and microservices architectures.
• Testing during legacy-to-cloud transformation or application modernisation.
• Node.js and Angular applications.
• Oracle PL/SQL and C#/.NET environments.
