IMEG is hiring a Senior Technology Designer in Naperville, IL to lead and manage moderate to complex low-voltage technology projects, including engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of ICT systems in buildings. The role supports larger, high-complexity initiatives and collaborates with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, technical solutions, and client guidance.

You will manage project budgets, mentor team members, and work cross-functionally to meet project objectives and client expectations. The team supports education, institutional, and MEP markets with communications, security, and AV systems.

What You'll Do

Technical Path

• Lead design efforts for IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems. 

• Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools according to code requirements and IMEG standards. 

• Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analysis and technical reports. 

• Gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships. 

• Conduct in-process design reviews and implement quality control processes for low-voltage building-system designs. 

• Provide technical training, mentoring, and field-issue support with limited support from senior staff. 

• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts. 

• Identify and mitigate safety risks associated with low-voltage technology systems. 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals. 

• Participate in project interviews and presentations.

OR

Project Management Path

• Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.

• Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations, proposal generation, and contract reviews. 

• Create project schedules with targets for milestones and deadlines. 

• Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients. 

• Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages. 

• Ensure designs follow owner standards, requirements, IMEG standards, code requirements, and quality control processes. 

• Coordinate project scheduling, lead progress meetings, and provide meeting documentation through design and construction. 

• Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested. 

• Resolve client and construction concerns, manage change orders, and obtain appropriate approvals. 

• Train, mentor, and motivate staff. 

• Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.

Education and Experience 

Qualifications (one of the following): 

Option A 

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, related STEM field, or equivalent required 

• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry 

OR 

Option B 

• Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred 

• 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry 

Skills and Abilities 

• Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildings 

• Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills 

• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise 

• Ability to sell work and develop client relationships 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills 

• Eagerness to adapt to new challenges 

• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook 

• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups 

• Must have the ability to travel up to 50%, including local, domestic, and international travel as needed for business purposes, which may include overnight stays and/or air travel

State of Illinois Salary Range: $107,000-$149,000 per year 

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location. 

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications. 

Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
