R&D Senior Technologist in Advanced Characterization

CMP business of DuPont E&I is offering an exciting opportunity for a R&D Senior Technologist in the advanced characterization group in Wilmington and Newark, DE.  The individual will provide technical expertise to support multidisciplinary teams in the development of new products and technical solutions for CMP technology.  This role would include working with scientists, engineers, and technologists in a team-based environment to drive projects to successful completion. Preferred candidates will have laboratory experience associated with CMPT pad technology, processing, characterization, and testing in addition to good interpersonal and organization skills. Preferred candidates should enjoy working on a high performing team supporting various projects.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Working safely in an R&D environment, actively participating in company safety programs. Generating and maintaining documentation for the safe and productive operation of equipment and tools. 
  • Materials analysis/characterization, and testing.  Planning and executing designed experiments in collaboration with lead scientist for R&D, customer troubleshooting, and manufacturing problem solving.
  • Providing technical support for multidisciplinary teams for both new product and capability development.
  • Laboratory equipment set-up, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Generating, analyzing and summarizing data, maintaining electronic databases and documenting results in laboratory notebooks and analytical reports.  Generating and maintaining SOPs for the safe and efficient operation of equipment.   
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues when encountered to accelerate repair.
  • Interacting and collaborating in a professional manner with other groups including Field Service, Manufacturing, and QC.

Required Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of analytical chemistry within a CMP technology environment
  • Experienced with various lab instrumentation including physical, mechanical, and thermomechanical testers, rheometers, spectrophotometers, and others
  • Working knowledge of polyurethane and resin chemistry
  • Independent problem solving, strong attention to detail, and safety-oriented attitude.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to learn new software.  Experience with software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently with limited guidance from a supervisor, and also in a group environment as part of a larger project team
  • Basic statistical knowledge and usage of related software (JMP)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degrees in chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Preferred candidates will have previous experience in electronic/semiconductor business
  • Preferred candidates will have a desire to expand analytical knowledge while putting safety as a priority.
  • Working knowledge or ability to learn various software platforms (e.g., databases, SharePoint, statistical analysis, etc.)
