The Role

As a Senior Technical Recruiter at Bedrock Robotics, you will lead the end-to-end recruitment process for critical technical roles as we transform the $13 trillion construction industry through advanced autonomy. Working with our team of proven autonomous systems engineers and industry veterans, you'll identify and attract world-class talent in AI/ML, robotics, and construction technology to help us scale autonomous construction equipment across the U.S.

You'll treat every hire as a high-stakes pursuit—approaching recruiting with the persistence and relentlessness required to win over the best talent, even when they're not actively looking. Whether targeting a perception engineer at a top autonomous vehicle company or a construction technology expert who's never considered a startup, you know how to build deep relationships, navigate complex decision-making processes, and close candidates others can't reach. You view "not interested" as the beginning of a conversation, not the end of one.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where you'll have the opportunity to build recruiting processes from the ground up while making a direct impact on our mission-critical hiring needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for specialized technical roles including Robotics Engineers, Computer Vision Engineers, AI/ML Specialists, Perception Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Construction Technology experts
  • Build recruiting infrastructure in a high-growth startup environment, help establish processes, metrics, and best practices as we scale from startup to industry leader
  • Partner with engineering leadership (including founders with deep autonomous vehicle and enterprise software backgrounds) to define hiring strategies for roles requiring expertise in autonomous systems, sensor fusion, machine learning, and real-time systems
  • Develop innovative sourcing strategies to identify talent from autonomous vehicle companies, robotics firms, construction technology, and adjacent industries like mining or agriculture automation
  • Conduct technical screens to evaluate candidates' experience with LiDAR, computer vision, sensor integration, GPS/IMU systems, and machine learning model deployment
  • Navigate complex compensation discussions for niche specialties in a competitive startup landscape, leveraging market intelligence from both tech and construction industries
  • Build talent pipelines for hard-to-fill positions in autonomous systems, particularly those requiring safety-critical software experience or construction domain knowledge
  • Represent Bedrock at technical conferences, robotics meetups, and industry events to build our employer brand in the autonomous systems community
  • Collaborate with our partnership team to identify talent opportunities through our relationships with forward-thinking construction companies and industry partners
  • Help scale recruiting operations as we grow, potentially building and mentoring a recruiting team in the future
  • Work with our existing recruiting coordination and embedded recruiting team members
What You'll Bring
  • 6+ years full-cycle technical recruiting with proven success hiring for AI/ML, robotics, or autonomous systems roles, with at least 3+ years in startup/high-growth environments hiring for technical roles
  • Executive search mindset - proven ability to identify, pursue, and close exceptionally hard-to-reach talent through persistent relationship building, deep market mapping, and relentless outreach. You don't take "no" as a final answer when you've identified the right person for the role
  • Startup DNA - comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and wearing multiple hats while building processes from scratch
  • Deep understanding of technical domains including computer vision, sensor fusion, machine learning infrastructure, robotics software, and real-time systems
  • Experience recruiting from competitive landscapes - ability to identify and attract talent from leading autonomous systems, robotics, and AI companies
  • Industry knowledge of construction technology, industrial automation, or related fields preferred
  • Advanced sourcing skills using Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, research papers, and technical community networks
  • Data-driven approach to recruitment metrics, pipeline optimization, and market analysis
  • ATS expertise with Greenhouse or similar platforms
  • Strong negotiation skills for managing complex offers involving equity, relocation, and competing startup opportunities
  • Cultural assessment abilities to identify candidates who thrive in our collaborative, field-testing environment working alongside construction professionals
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work independently while contributing to a fast-moving, results-oriented culture
Location Requirements
  • San Francisco Bay Area based with hybrid work arrangement
  • Regular in-person collaboration with engineering teams and leadership
  • Occasional travel for conferences, industry events, and partnership meetings
Preferred Background
  • Previous recruiting experience at autonomous vehicle, robotics, or construction technology startups
  • Executive search or retained search firm experience recruiting for leadership or specialized technical roles requiring sustained candidate engagement and relationship development
  • Understanding of safety-critical software development and hardware-software integration
  • Significant network within AI/ML research communities and autonomous systems industry
  • Experience with rapid scaling and building recruiting operations in startup environments

Our roles are often flexible. If you don't fit all the criteria, or are in another location (especially one where we have an office like SF of NY) please apply anyway! We'd love to consider you.

Join the team bringing advanced autonomy to the built world

At Bedrock, we've assembled one of the most experienced autonomous technology teams in the industry, with deep expertise scaling breakthroughs across transportation, infrastructure, and enterprise software. Our leaders helped put the first self-driving cars on public roads at Waymo, scaled systems for Segment's $3.2B acquisition, and grew Uber Freight to $5B in revenue.

While others debate the future of AI, we're deploying it in the real world. Our systems are already installed on heavy machines across the country, learning on real construction sites and working to reshape the earth with survey-grade precision and exceptional safety. This isn't a simulation—it's autonomous intelligence working on billion-dollar infrastructure projects.

In just over a year, we've raised $80M, put our equipment into the field, and established partnerships with forward-thinking contractors who are integrating our technology into their operations. We're working quickly to close the gap between America's surging demand for housing, data centers, manufacturing hubs, and the construction industry's growing labor shortage.

Here, algorithms meet steel-toed boots. You'll collaborate with both construction veterans and experienced engineers, tackling problems where your work directly impacts how the physical world get built. If you're interested in applying cutting-edge technology to solve meaningful problems alongside a talented team—we'd love to have you join us.
