What You'll Do
As a Senior Technical Lead, you will:
- Lead the design, development, modernization, and optimization of business-critical platforms and applications.
- Drive platform stability, scalability, performance, security, and operational excellence across the technology ecosystem.
- Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, architects, and engineering leaders to define platform strategy, roadmaps, and execution plans.
- Build and implement innovative solutions leveraging Generative AI capabilities to improve productivity, operational efficiency, monitoring, search, and customer experiences.
- Utilize Dynatrace and observability best practices to proactively monitor system health, identify issues, improve performance, and enhance reliability.
- Design and support enterprise search solutions utilizing OpenSearch and related search technologies.
- Support and optimize applications leveraging Oracle/SQL databases, ensuring performance, integrity, and scalability.
- Collaborate across modern and legacy technology environments, including Mainframe systems, batch processing frameworks, and distributed applications.
- Provide leadership and expertise for production support activities, incident management, root-cause analysis, and problem resolution.
- Drive automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, platform resilience, and service quality.
- Lead the implementation and management of APIs and platform integrations while ensuring security, resilience, and scalability.
- Analyze platform performance, adoption trends, and operational data to identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
- Guide development teams through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Mentor developers and promote engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders to understand platform vision and align delivery with strategic objectives.
- Prioritize, manage, and support a portfolio of customer-facing and internal platform initiatives.
- Monitor platform health, adoption metrics, service performance, and operational effectiveness.
- Document business rules, process flows, technical designs, architecture decisions, and functional specifications.
- Analyze platform data to drive enhancements, performance improvements, and operational efficiencies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that strengthen BMO's technology capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements, support standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage technical requirements including API integrations, platform services, and supporting infrastructure components.
- Work independently while leading complex initiatives and navigating ambiguity.
- Provide specialized consulting, technical leadership, analytical expertise, and production support guidance.
- Apply BMO's Risk Management Framework and ensure all solutions align with security, governance, compliance, and operational standards.

- 5-7+ years of experience in software development, platform engineering, application support, or related technology roles.
- Strong experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise-scale software solutions.
- Experience working with Generative AI solutions, including AI-powered automation, developer productivity tools, and emerging AI technologies.
- Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and enterprise AI adoption.
- Experience with Dynatrace or similar observability and application performance monitoring platforms.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
