Senior Technical Designer

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Technical Designer to join our client project, a big player in the insurance sector, for a crucial role in developing and maintaining their application, VELO. This position requires a blend of technical design skills, development expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and maintain the VELO application.
• Execute technical solutions, focusing on the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the application.
• Utilize COBOL and SQL for development, ensuring high-quality coding standards.
• Conduct deep debugging and troubleshooting using appropriate tools in a SQL Server environment.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects while respecting deadlines and budget constraints.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on project status and challenges.
• Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to testing.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a technical role within an IT environment. 

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in COBOL and SQL.
• Experience with troubleshooting tools and debugging techniques.
• Familiarity with in-house tools, such as lifecycle tools, is a plus.

Communication: Fluent in Dutch or French, with working knowledge of the other language and English.

Collaboration: Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

Background: Experience in the insurance sector is preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Skills: Knowledge of .NET is a plus. Experience in architecture is beneficial but not required.
