The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the strategic design, governance, and evolution of a secure, scalable, and highly resilient enterprise infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership in architecting solutions that support current and future business objectives, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all systems.

This individual leads the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technologies, establishes architectural standards, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes mentoring technical staff, guiding complex troubleshooting efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to align technology solutions with business needs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with business units and IT leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and administration of computer systems/infrastructure while ensuring high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of critical infrastructure issues.
  • Mentor and guide IT colleagues, fostering technical growth and best practices.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization strategies for infrastructure.
  • Assist with vendor management  by acquiring quotes and helping with license management and renewals.
  • Primary support and monitoring of Microsoft servers and virtual infrastructure.
  • Work with team members to support and manage local facility networks and global WAN

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Advanced expertise in infrastructure architecture, design principles, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Proven ability to design systems from high-level business requirements.
  • Expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-availability environment with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure and architecture roles.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED):

  • CompTIAA+, Network+ or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification may be advantageous.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Nutanix and Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops.
  • Proficiency in Windows server and Linux/Unix operating systems is necessary, as well as knowledge of applications such as Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience with management/administration of enterprise collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, TEAMS).
  • Knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, VLANs, SD-WAN) and experience with supporting and configuring network infrastructure.
  • Experience managing cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments) and remote access/VPN solutions.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and management tools, as well as automation frameworks.

Skills Required
