Role Overview: 

Intramotev is seeking a motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join the engineering team to meet growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in establishing the technical foundation for our autonomous fleet by leading configuration management and requirements definition efforts. You will be responsible for ensuring that complex system requirements are clearly defined, traced, and managed throughout the product lifecycle while maintaining strict configuration control over hardware and software baselines. 

This position is based out of St. Louis, MO and is a 100% in-office, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Requirements Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to define, document, and manage complex system and subsystem requirements across the development lifecycle.
  • Establish Configuration Management: Define and implement robust configuration management (CM) processes and tools to maintain the integrity of hardware and software baselines.
  • Design & Architecture: Translate operational needs into verifiable system architectures and interface specifications, ensuring cross-functional alignment.
  • Change Control: Manage technical change control processes to evaluate, approve, and track modifications to system designs.
  • Traceability & V&V: Ensure full bidirectional traceability between requirements, design, and test plans to support comprehensive verification and validation (V&V).
  • Lifecycle Support: Address and resolve configuration and requirements issues for fielded systems, providing support from concept through deployment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software and hardware teams to manage cross-functional dependencies and resolve blockages.

About You: 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Science.
  • 5 or more years of experience in systems engineering, requirements management, or configuration management.
  • Proven experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Jama, DOORS, or similar).
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as a technical leader.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems development and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, EN 50128).
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience working in Agile environments for hardware and software development.
  • Demonstrated experience working across organizational boundaries and collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Typical Education and Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
