POSITION:               Sr. Systems Administrator

SALARY:                   $35.13 - $38.39, per hour DOE

REPORTS TO:        Systems Service Manager

LOCATION:              Information Technology Department, Nespelem, WA.  

 

Basic Functions:      This is a Non-Exempt position.  Under general direction, is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, administering, maintaining and troubleshooting system and server systems. Participates in capacity planning, support the creation and the maintenance of system and server disaster recovery plans and monitor all system and server performance activities. Screens the system and server for attempted intrusions as well as designs and implements appropriate system and server security measures and procedures. Responsible for designing and implementing advanced cabling plant infrastructure to support system and server systems. Provides Tier II and III support for network issues that come through the customer service center. Exercises no direct supervision over staff

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Training: 

  • High School Diploma, GED with 72 months experience  OR,
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Information Technology with 24 months experience and,
  • Experience in Telecommunication, Networks, Computer Science, or IT related fields, managing network projects and experience in working with teams, developing work plans.
  • Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
  • Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:
  • Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Conviction.

  • Advanced knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide core network services including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, email security, VPN, and NAC.
  • Advanced knowledge of VOIP telephony products.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds Orion Suite, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Coaxial, fiber, and copper structured cabling for core, aggregation, distribution, and access layer networks.
  • Advanced knowledge of network configuration management.
  • Knowledge of basic to moderately complex hardware and software products.
  • Knowledge of Internet Protocols & Networking understanding
  • Knowledge of computer systems scheduling and report distribution.
  • Skill in problem solving/troubleshooting.

  • Ability to use mobile and/or PC technology, computer operating systems, network printer configuration and mobile device configuration in Windows and Mac.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Tribal staff and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Type 40 wpm and pass a standardized grammar test
