Senior Systems Administrator (Azure)

Our client, a government agency in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking a Systems Administrator to support and expand its IT infrastructure. This role focuses on managing cloud services, server administration, and infrastructure operations. The candidate will provide critical support across Microsoft platforms, cloud services (primarily Azure), and enterprise applications.

Job duties include, but not limited to:

• Administer and support Microsoft Windows Server environments (2012 R2 through 2022) and ensure system uptime, performance, and security
• Manage Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, services, and configurations, including Azure DevOps projects and pipelines
• Oversee Microsoft 365 and Power Platform environments, including user access, configuration, and service optimization
• Monitor, analyze, and resolve infrastructure and application issues, including server performance, network availability, and system security
• Lead the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure components such as DNS, TCP/IP networking, NTFS permissions, and file sharing
• Support middleware platforms, API management tools, and batch job services across enterprise systems
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to coordinate server configurations, deployments, upgrades, and patching
• Identify and implement opportunities for cost optimization, system refactoring, and performance improvement
• Document administrative procedures and automate recurring tasks to reduce manual workload and improve consistency

Compensation and Term 

This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $145,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems operations, and administration
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in information systems engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2012 R2–2022)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services (strongly preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in IIS Administration, TCP/IP networking, and DNS
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft 365 and Power Platform administration
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with Azure DevOps (projects, repos, pipelines)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting middleware, APIs, or automation tools
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
