Barbaricum is currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled System Engineer IV to join our team in support of the Program Executive Office Soldier programs. This role is pivotal in managing and executing systems engineering activities, including requirements analysis, functional analysis, design solution formulation, and systems architecture product generation and maintenance.
The successful candidate will apply system engineering principles and procedures to translate quantified needs into system performance parameters and identify system/item configurations. This role demands a thorough understanding of the Systems Engineering Management Process and its application within the Department of Army/DOD Acquisition process across all life cycle phases.
Responsibilities
- Systems Engineering Management: Manage systems engineering activities, including requirements analysis, functional analysis, systems analysis and control, and maintenance of systems architecture products.
- Design and Integration: Formulate design solutions, perform top-level design, development, integration, testing, installation, and troubleshooting of systems.
- Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements, and engineering changes.
- Expert Consultation: Serve as the subject matter expert for all technical aspects of assigned programs, providing expert and authoritative advice on critical programs and technologies.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate system engineering principles, procedures, and processes used in past programs to establish innovative engineering strategies for current and future projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in post-award meetings, program reviews, design reviews, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) as the project engineer and/or technical expert.
- Design Evaluation: Ensure integration of all engineering disciplines in design efforts and the adequacy of analyses performed, coordinating with other programs and organizations as necessary.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Educational Background: Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or Systems Management.
- Experience: 20 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, demonstrating a capacity to lead engineering efforts on assigned programs with minimal oversight.
- Certification: Equivalent experience commensurate with DAWIA Level III SPRDE certification is preferred.
- Engineering Community Recognition: Recognized breadth of experience and knowledge within the Engineering community, able to serve as a consultant on Systems Engineering matters.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to mentor the workforce and lead engineering efforts, serving as a consultant to team members on Systems Engineering matters.
- Innovative Strategy Development: Expertise in evaluating and improving system engineering principles, procedures, and processes to establish new engineering strategies.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, brief program managers on possible courses of action, and assess their impact.
