Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and proactive Senior System Engineer to support and maintain the technology environment across infrastructure, networking, end-user computing, cloud, security, and IT service management. This role works closely with the IT Operations Lead to ensure stable, secure, and reliable day-to-day IT operations, while contributing to automation, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & Service Support
- Provide L2/L3 technical support for servers, networks, applications, cloud services, and end-user technology.
- Handle incidents, service requests, and escalations through the IT ticketing platform in line with SLA targets.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring issues and support post-incident reviews.
- Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-base articles.
Infrastructure, Network & End-User Computing
- Administer and maintain servers, storage, virtualization platforms, wireless networks, and firewalls.
- Manage switches, routers, wireless access points, and Internet circuits, including vendor coordination.
- Support the full device lifecycle — procurement, provisioning, refresh, and secure disposal — for laptops, desktops, and peripherals.
- Handle user onboarding, offboarding, access provisioning, and asset recovery in coordination with HR.
- Monitor bandwidth, capacity, and infrastructure health; flag risks proactively.
Cloud & Microsoft 365 Support
- Manage and monitor Microsoft Azure resources, including VMs, storage, DNS, identity/access, and networking components.
- Administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, license allocation, and mail-flow/security settings.
- Support basic administration on other cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) where required.
- Track cloud and M365 usage/licensing, and flag anomalies or cost concerns.
Software, License, Patch & Configuration Management
- Support Microsoft 365/O365 license allocation, renewals, and usage tracking.
- Assist with endpoint configuration, software deployment, and patch management (e.g., using ManageEngine Desktop Central/Endpoint Central).
- Maintain hardware/software inventory and support licensing compliance checks.
DevOps & Automation (Exposure Preferred)
- Support basic Git/GitLab operations, including access reviews under guidance.
- Assist with CI/CD pipeline monitoring and operational stability tasks in collaboration with DevOps teams.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support tasks and reporting.
Cybersecurity & Compliance Support
- Support implementation of IT security policies and operational controls.
- Assist with vulnerability scans, patch remediation tracking, and endpoint protection/EDR health monitoring.
- Support ISO 27001/ISMS audit activities — evidence collection, access reviews, and documentation.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain operational dashboards for uptime, ticket performance, patch compliance, and asset status.
- Assist in preparing monthly SLA/KPI reports for the IT Operations Lead.
Vendor & Procurement Support
- Coordinate with vendors and MSPs for hardware, software, and network services
- Support procurement documentation, quotations, and renewal tracking.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in system administration, IT infrastructure, or IT operations support.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure — administration, resource management, DNS, storage, access/identity management, and cost monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft 365 environment — Exchange Online, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, license management, and mail-flow/security administration.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, ManageEngine, or similar).
- Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
- Exposure to AWS and/or GCP is a plus in addition to Azure.
- Working knowledge of ITSM tools (JIRA, ServiceNow, Freshdesk, or similar).
- Exposure to Git, CI/CD, or scripting/automation is a plus, but not mandatory.
Preferred Certifications:
- ITIL Foundation
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / AWS Cloud Practitioner (or equivalent)
- CompTIA Network+/Security+
