With 65+ years of expertise, our ecosystem of interconnected products combined with our complete vehicle expertise uniquely positions us to advance mobility in an expanded transportation landscape.
Job Responsibilities:
Magna IT is looking for a Senior System Engineer with a strong focus on building and operating a centralized Intune Data Warehouse and establishing reliable device compliance monitoring at scale. This role takes end-to-end ownership for the solution design, implementation, operational stability, and continuous improvement of the reporting and compliance monitoring service. Responsibilities include integrating multiple data sources (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Matrix42 ITSM database, Nexthink) into a central database, defining data standards and quality controls, and enabling customized queries and Power BI dashboards for operational and management reporting. In close collaboration with MIT colleagues and Divisional IT, the position drives compliance governance, proactively identifies trends and risks, and leads remediation activities to restore and sustain device compliance.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and operation of a centralized data platform for Modern Workplace reporting (Intune Data Warehouse as core, plus additional sources as required), including architecture decisions and long-term roadmap
- Design robust integration patterns and harmonize data from Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Matrix42 ITSM DB, Nexthink and other relevant systems into a central database (ETL/ELT), ensuring scalability and maintainability
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (or comparable tooling) including scheduling, error handling, monitoring/alerting, and performance/cost optimization
- Own SQL-based data modeling (schema design, views, performance tuning/indexing) and deliver high-quality custom queries for operational reporting and analytics
- Build secure and reliable automation for data extraction and operations using Microsoft Graph API and Entra ID (app registrations, permissions, authentication patterns) with PowerShell/Python
- Build and govern Power BI semantic models, datasets and dashboards (KPI definitions, refresh strategy, access management/RLS, documentation) for different stakeholder groups
- Own device compliance monitoring and governance (e.g., free disk space, BitLocker status, anti-virus, M365 Apps versions, patch/health indicators) across all Intune managed devices; define thresholds, metrics, and reporting standards
- Lead cross-team remediation with MIT and Divisional IT to restore compliance (runbooks, escalation paths, root cause analysis, follow-up, and reporting), driving measurable improvements
- Establish data governance and quality management (data definitions, validation checks, documentation, lineage, and auditability of metrics)
- Act as technical lead for reporting, automation and compliance monitoring topics (2nd/3rd level), advise stakeholders, and mentor colleagues on best practices
- Participation in on-call rotation for the reporting/compliance monitoring service (as required) including incident triage and coordination of problem resolution
Knowledge and Education
- Preferably Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a relevant field.
- Completed education of a technical college.
Work Experience and Skills
- 5+ years of experience in endpoint management analytics / reporting and/or data integration in an enterprise environment (Intune strongly preferred)
- Expert-level SQL skills (data modeling, query optimization, indexing principles, troubleshooting performance issues; building views/stored procedures is a plus)
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Graph API and Entra ID (device/identity objects, permissions, app registrations, authentication flows, least-privilege design)
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (or equivalent) and operating ETL/ELT pipelines with monitoring/alerting and operational readiness (SLAs, runbooks)
- Strong Power BI skills (semantic data modeling, DAX, performance optimization, dashboard design, row-level security, and governance/lifecycle management)
- Strong scripting/automation skills in PowerShell and/or Python (APIs, scheduling, logging, error handling) with focus on maintainability (modular code, documentation, testing mindset)
- Experience with source control and deployment practices (e.g., Git, release/change management; CI/CD for data pipelines/reporting is a plus)
- Deep understanding of endpoint compliance concepts and telemetry and how to operationalize them (KPIs, alerting, remediation workflows; e.g., Intune compliance, BitLocker, AV/Defender signals, application versioning, device health indicators; Nexthink is a plus)
Other Competencies
- Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work and operational excellence.
- Knowledge of client lifecycle management systems and current computing trends.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal) to translate complex technical topics into actionable insights for management, IT partners and end users
- Can work independently or part of a team.
- Conform with and abide by all Company codes, regulations, policies, values, work procedures and instructions.
- Must be an independent problem solver with troubleshooting, decision-making and analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
