Summary of the Position:
The Senior Administrator role requires expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Azure infrastructure services, Entra ID (Azure AD) identity and access management. The person must be highly proficient in implementing and managing system architecture and design elements and have a proven track record in Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Identity, and Cloud) and Microsoft Sentinel for security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response. Practical experience with networking, security, compliance, hybrid environments, and automation using Microsoft native tools (PowerShell) is essential.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• Proven Experience, verifiable exposure with industry‑recognized certifications and/or a degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, Networking, Cyber Security, or a related field will be considered beneficial and supportive to the role.

Experience:

• Verifiable, hands‑on experience in enterprise IT environment, with practical exposure to hybrid infrastructure, systems administration, security, and operational support.

• Candidates must be able to evidence applied knowledge gained through real‑world deployment and operational responsibility.

Certifications:

Industry‑recognized certifications and/or verifiable exposure in one or more of the following technologies are beneficial and form part of qualification criteria:

• VMware.

• NetApp Storage.

• Qualys.

• Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Office 365 environments, Active Directory and Domain Services.

• FortiGate (and related) and scripting.

• COBIT/ITIL frameworks.

• Hybrid on‑premises and cloud infrastructure.

Job Specification:

Architecture:

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient and scalable IT systems that support the organisation’s evolving business needs.

• Ensure that technology solutions enhance operational efficiency while remaining adaptable to future growth.

• Integrating new technologies with existing platforms to streamline processes, eliminate duplication, and maximise value from current investments.

Security:

• Safeguard the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of enterprise data by implementing industry best practices and robust security frameworks.

• Proactive risk management, including regular vulnerability assessments and the implementation of mitigation measures to reduce the likelihood and impact of security incidents.

Cloud Administration:

• Oversee and optimize cloud-based platforms and services, including AWS and Microsoft Azure, to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and secure operations.

• Managing cloud resources to improve efficiency and drive measurable cost reductions.

• Leads cloud migration initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime and limited business disruption.

System Management:

• Provide operational oversight of enterprise IT systems across both Windows and Linux environments.

• Ensuring system stability, performance, and availability.

• Conduct regular system maintenance, performance tuning, and upgrades to support high availability, reliable service delivery, and optimal processing performance.

Site Reliability and Resilience:

• Define, implement, and maintain policies and standards that support system uptime, resilience, and disaster recovery.

• Establishing and testing disaster recovery plans, including conducting regular simulations to confirm organisational readiness and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or outages.

Cross‑Enterprise Collaboration:

Work closely with internal teams across the organisation to ensure IT systems are aligned with business and technology strategies. This includes:

• Collaborating with IT and Network teams to align system architecture with infrastructure standards and strategic goals, and providing oversight or guidance where required.

• Coordinating with Security teams to implement, maintain, and continuously improve security controls, as well as to respond effectively to security incidents.

• Supporting Development teams by providing guidance on system performance, scalability, and platform capabilities to enable effective software development and deployment.

• Partnering with Operations teams to ensure day‑to‑day system management and reliability practices align with designed system requirements.

• Engaging with Business Units to understand operational needs and ensure technology solutions effectively support business objectives.

• Working with Compliance and Risk Management teams to ensure all systems comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards.
