Amentum is seeking a Consulting Civil Engineer IV (Structural) to be based in our Oak Ridge, TN location. Responsible for project and program management of assigned tasks and support personnel , as needed. Including engineering guidance, analyses, studies, schedules, in structural segment of engineering projects.
Essential Responsibilities:
Technical Abilities
- Applies specialized understanding of engineering principles to development of engineering design products.
- Completes engineering assignments of advanced complexity.
- Follows current company process and may drive improvements in collaboration with process owners.
- Coaches/instructs others on strategies to achieve quality and completeness of engineering tasks.
- Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities; pursues continuing education
- Establishes appropriate design inputs & criteria.
- Has specialized knowledge of industry codes and standards.
- Utilizes source requirements for configuration management concepts and engineering change control to establish compliant change control plans for completion of project work.
Project Management Skills
- Establishes due dates and develops schedules for engineering projects.
- Develops detailed engineering estimates and quickly develops ROM estimates.
- Leads others in the timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Program Management Skills
- Assists other engineers with performing work to procedures and processes.
- May establish or develop Engineering programs and procedures.
- May establish teams for the purpose of process improvement.
Consulting Skills
- Produces accurate, referenceable products.
- Reviews peer’s intermediate and final work and assesses adequacy.
- Schedules and participates in meetings and ensures each has an agenda.
- Leads interdisciplinary teams on project tasks.
- Reviews and may specify vendor/ subcontractor submittals.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Collaborates with peers and other individuals across company organizations and DOE.
- Provides coaching or mentoring to other engineers.
- May informally mediate situations which involve differing professional opinions.
BS in Civil/Structural engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.15 + years of experience. Professional license preferred. DOE experience a plus.
