This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and analyzes technical data for engineering and scientific research, design, development, test, evaluation, implementation, and support of products, services, and processes
- Applies specialized knowledge and judgment with prescribed methods and develops and maintains various analytical tools in order to understand behavior of products, services, and processes
- Compares product capabilities and performance to requirements
- Documents findings in reports and data, such as specifications, drawings, manuals, test procedures, and standards
- Interfaces with management, engineers and scientists, process owners, team members, marketing and sales, customers, and suppliers to provide schedule and project status, and ensure that requirements for analytical data are fulfilled
- Apply knowledge of structural models, finite element methods, solutions and aerodynamic principals to conduct the determination of aircraft loads and aeroelastic stability
- Ability to utilize Structures Engineering codes and processes to provide Structures Engineering related data products and services including the documentation of results.
- Apply knowledge of applicable aircraft structures design procedures and regulations
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Wichita, KS location
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years of experience in structural analysis, stress engineering, or a related engineering role
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering
- Experience with structural analysis tools such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) methods and modeling techniques
- Knowledge of aircraft structural analysis principles, including loads, stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and models, including GD&T
- Exposure to aerospace materials and structural behavior (e.g., aluminum, composites)
- Understanding of engineering change processes, configuration management, or product lifecycle management systems

Summary Pay Range: $88,350 - $135,450
