The Role

Role Overview

As a Senior Strategic Planner (3-month contractor) at Vero, you will work closely with the Growth Team, Senior Planners, and cross-functional teams to support strategic planning for client projects and new business initiatives during a defined period.This role is hands-on and execution-focused. You will be expected to quickly understand client business challenges, generate insights, and develop clear, actionable communication strategies that can be executed within existing team structures.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Insights

  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, category review, and trend analysis to support strategy development.
  • Use available research tools, data sources, and desk research to identify relevant consumer and market insights.
  • Translate research findings into clear insights and implications that directly inform strategy and creative direction. 
  • Support internal teams and client discussions with data-backed insights where required.

Strategy Development

  • Receive and review client briefs; clarify objectives, target audiences, KPIs, and constraints by asking direct and relevant questions
  • Identify gaps or unclear assumptions in briefs and propose strategic directions to address them.
  • Develop communication strategies that include:
    • Problem definition
    • Audience and consumer insights
    • Strategic approach and key messages
    • High-level channel and content direction
  • Ensure strategies are practical, aligned with client objectives, and feasible for execution within timelines and budgets.

Creative Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Creative Team to guide idea development based on approved strategy.
  • Provide strategic input during ideation sessions to ensure ideas remain on-brief and on-strategy.
  • Review and refine creative ideas from a strategic perspective, focusing on relevance and effectiveness rather than personal preference.

Client Engagement

  • Present strategic thinking clearly to clients in written documents and presentations.
  • Participate in client meetings to explain strategy, respond to feedback, and refine recommendations where needed.
  • Act as the strategic reference point during the project to ensure consistency with the approved direction.

Project Support & Optimization

  • Work with Account teams to support strategy implementation during execution.
  • Ensure strategic intent is maintained across different deliverables and touchpoints.
  • Provide recommendations for optimization or adjustments based on performance, feedback, or changing requirements.

New Business Support (Project-Based)

  • Support strategic thinking for new business pitches during the contract period.
  • Contribute to pitch strategy, key narratives, and presentation materials assigned.
  • Present or co-present strategic sections in pitch meetings when required.

Scope & Expectations for the Contract

  • This is a project-based, delivery-focused role;
  • Success will be measured by:
    • Quality and clarity of strategic outputs
    • Ability to work efficiently with internal teams
    • Timely delivery within agreed scope and timelines

Job Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in strategic planning, communications, or integrated marketing (agency experience preferred).
  • Strong ability to structure problems, develop clear strategies, and communicate ideas logically.
  • Comfortable working independently and adapting quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills in English.
  • Available to commit full-time for the full 3-month contract period.
