Boston Dynamics is looking for a seasoned, highly motivated project management leader to join our deployment organization to drive and oversee complex installations across our robotics product lines. The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced expertise across all aspects of the delivery process, deep knowledge of regulatory standards for deploying systems in commercial/industrial environments, and proven capability in guiding cross-functional teams.

As a Senior Staff Project Manager, you will independently lead high-impact, high-complexity customer programs, managing overarching project timelines, resource strategy, and financial tracking with minimal supervision. While driving complex project requirements, you will serve as a lead point of contact for key customer executives and project leaders, guide Boston Dynamics’ world-class Field Applications Engineering teams, and manage key third-party vendors and subcontractors to ensure flawless execution.

To succeed in this role, you must bring strong technical fluency across hardware, software, and systems engineering, excel at navigating high levels of ambiguity, and demonstrate a track record of shaping project delivery models. This strategic role offers growth paths into senior leadership within engineering program management, general management, or business strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Execution & Leadership: Lead end-to-end execution of complex robotics deployment programs—including scope definition, schedule development, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder alignment—across multiple customer environments.

  • Technical Oversight: Interpret and evaluate complex architectural/AutoCAD drawings, electrical work instructions, network diagrams, and system specs to govern and validate physical system installations.

  • Cross-Functional & Field Management: Direct Boston Dynamics Field Applications Engineering teams, third-party contractors, and vendors on-site. Oversee material logistics, site inventory management, critical-path tracking, and site safety compliance.

  • Process & Framework Development: Partner with Field Engineering, Finance, and BizOps leadership to establish strategic program templates, delivery models, revenue milestone tracking, and scalable deployment methodologies.

  • Risk & Critical Path Management: Identify complex technical blockers and deployment roadblocks, analyze root causes, perform scenario planning, and drive cross-functional mitigation strategies to maintain schedule commitments.

  • Executive Communication: Serve as the main liaison to senior customer leadership and Boston Dynamics executive stakeholders, presenting status reports, financial metrics, trade-offs, and strategic risk assessments.

  • Demonstrations & Pilots: Oversee logistics, strategy, and execution for high-profile customer pilot projects, field demonstrations, and trade show interactions.

  • Mentorship & Capability Building: Mentor junior project team members and contribute to scaling organizational project and program management capabilities.

Core Competencies
  • Execution: Analyzes and prioritizes the varying aspects of the role, knows and/or follows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, and consistently achieves results, even under tough circumstances.

  • Collaboration: Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives through effective communication that understands the unique needs of different audiences.

  • Innovation: Creates new and better ways for the organization to be successful, anticipates and adopts innovations in business, operations, and technology applications.

  • Adaptability: Adapts and pivots in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations, and moves forward productively and optimistically under conditions of change and ambiguity.

You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering) or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in technical project/program management, with direct leadership in fast-paced technology integration, robotics, or complex electromechanical system deployments.

  • Proven capability to build integrated project schedules with dependencies, critical paths, risk management, and contingency planning.

  • High technical fluency across software/hardware integration, network architecture, controls, or industrial automation.

  • Expertise with enterprise configuration management, schedule tracking, and ticketing systems (Jira, Smartsheet, Salesforce, MS Project).

  • Strong track record of managing high-visibility, customer-facing technical projects in matrixed environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.

We Value
  • Professional Project Management certification (PMP, Agile, or equivalent).

  • Deep project experience in autonomous mobile robots (AMR), unstructured robotic implementations, or structured inspection systems.

  • Mastery of testing, manufacturing, commissioning, and quality control processes in commercial/industrial environments.

  • Advanced proficiency (Power User) in Smartsheet, Jira, or Salesforce for deployment tracking and reporting automation.

  • Demonstrated ability to build structure out of ambiguity and drive process development where formal frameworks do not yet exist.

Travel & Location
  • Location: Position based out of Boston Dynamics' Waltham, MA office. This role will be Hyrbid.
