Job Description

LOCATION: Bremen

JOB TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: Competitive

OVERVIEW Come work for one of the fastest-growing sports tech and iGaming companies in the world. Our NASDAQ-listed organization is aligned around shared passions for sports and technology, supporting thousands of partners with data and content worldwide.

We are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to act as a technical catalyst within our iGaming division. This is a high-impact leadership role: you won’t just write code; you will define the engineering culture and architectural vision for our sports-based casino games. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of high-frequency sports data and engaging, real-time gaming experiences. You will partner with leadership to translate product strategy into robust, scalable technical roadmaps while empowering our developers to work smarter and faster through modern engineering methodologies, including AI-driven development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architectural Vision: Lead the design and evolution of highly resilient, low-latency, and distributed architectures that power our iGaming products, ensuring they handle massive concurrency and real-time video and sports data streams.

  • AI-Augmented Engineering: Champion the adoption of AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Cody) within our development lifecycle. Define standards for AI-assisted code generation, automated documentation, test-case generation, and legacy code refactoring to drastically improve team velocity and code quality.

  • Engineering Excellence: Set the bar for best practices. Guide teams in test-driven development (TDD), security-first design, and clean-code principles. Foster an environment where quality and speed are not trade-offs but partners.

  • Cross-Team Enablement: Work across the organization to break down silos. You will act as a bridge between front-end, back-end, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless product delivery and technical alignment.

  • Hands-On Technical Leadership: Stay close to the code. Dive into critical path issues, participate in complex problem-solving, and lead by example in difficult refactoring or high-stakes feature implementations.

  • Mentorship & Growth: Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers, cultivating a culture of continuous learning. Your success is measured by the growth and autonomy of the engineers around you.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 10+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record in the iGaming, betting, or high-concurrency real-time gaming sectors.

  • Tech Stack: Expert-level proficiency in Java/JVM ecosystems and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript).

  • AI Fluency: Deep experience in leveraging AI coding assistants to improve development workflows. You understand not just how to prompt these tools, but how to integrate them into a secure, enterprise-grade engineering process.

  • System Design: Proven ability to architect complex, distributed systems in the cloud. Deep expertise in AWS (ECS, EKS, RDS, S3).

  • Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple squads, not just your immediate team.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical constraints into business risks/opportunities for non-technical leadership.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Expertise in low-latency game engine architecture (mobile or browser-based).

  • Experience building and scaling real-time video streaming solutions.

  • Knowledge of global iGaming regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

  • Strong understanding of DevOps as a culture, not just a toolset.

OUR OFFER

  • Join us in our vision to develop innovative and disruptive new iGaming products based on the vast library of sports data in Sportradar

  • A collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world (Engineering offices in Europe, Asia and US).

  • A challenging, rewarding, and fun environment with stimulating tasks

  • Investment in your continued development

  • Competitive salary and benefits (e.g. retirement pension and health care benefits)

  • Corporate fitness activities (e.g., football, table soccer, darts) and a special corporate fitness program

  • Vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups which welcome all participants
