Description

Perform complex accounting activities and financial analysis to keep company financially organized, per the company’s policies and practices. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by researching variances and establishes adequate controls over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, inventory, cost accounting, fixed assets, and general accounting.

• Owns the monthly/quarterly/annual financial close, including development of processes and procedures to ensure completeness, timeliness, and accuracy in financial reporting, as well as preparing journal entries and account reconciliations and financial statement preparation as part of the close process. 

• Performs monthly margin and expense analysis and prepares other financial and operational metrics.  Also, reviews the monthly results with executive and plant management. 

• Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and clears reconciling items in a timely manner.

• Ensures appropriate controls and compliance processes are followed, and reviews, recommends and initiates process control enhancements. 

• Makes recommendations for process improvements and automation opportunities.

• Assists in the development of standard costs and the annual standard cost-roll process.

• Assists in the annual budgeting process and preparation of the reporting package for the Board of Directors. 

• Assists in the timely preparation of schedules and other information required by external auditors.

• Contributes to any ad hoc reporting, special projects and performs additional duties as assigned by management.

• Prepares quarterly and annual governmental surveys and filings.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements/Preferences: 

• 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, metal casting industry experience preferred.

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Skills & Physical Requirements: 

• General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), balance sheet and income statement methods, internal controls and other areas related to financial reporting requirements. 

• Understanding of standard costing principles and techniques and a firm grasp of manufacturing operations and processes.

• Proven ability to systematically enhance processes and drive improvements. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Human Resources, Operations, and Sales.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Skills Required

  • 3+ years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, balance sheet and income statement methods, and internal controls
  • Experience owning monthly/quarterly/annual close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Understanding of standard costing principles and manufacturing operations
