SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller for Related Entities, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the Research Foundation’s related entities, including the CUNY Service Centers and a separate LLC that owns and operates the Foundation’s office building at 230 West 41st Street. The position supports day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, audits, budgeting, and compliance activities, and plays a key role in supporting Service Center financial processes within the Research Foundation’s Workday OneRF system.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
• Assists day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable for building tenants, and general ledger maintenance
• Assists the financial reporting and audit of the RF’s company-owned and operated office building located at 230 West 41st Street
• Assists with the annual budgets and financial projections for the Service Centers and the LLC
• Creates monthly invoices in the Research Foundation’s financial system, Workday OneRF, for internal and external users of Service Center facilities
• Apply customer payments and deposits to outstanding invoices following review and verification
• Enters journal entries to process payments for internal CUNY Principal Investigators utilizing iLab software
• Monitors Service Center aging reports, including tracking payments from external sponsors
• Investigate and address payment issues with Principal Investigators to ensure budget compliance.
• Assist with the preparation and supporting documentation for Form 990 and the NYC TC201 form, collaborate with the Operations team, and support the annual budget process
• Assists with the annual Service Center re-certification process to ensure allowable charges and compliance with Federal Uniform Guidance
• Assists in the preparation of monthly management reports
• Upholds the integrity of the general ledger for related entities by confirming the validity and accuracy of financial transactions
• Coordinates LLC financial audits with internal and external auditors
• Assists with requests for information related to sponsor audits, pre-award proposals, and other financial inquiries
• Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
• Five or more years of professional accounting experience preferred
• Prior experience supporting non-profit accounting and audits
• Thorough knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
• Experience with Workday Financial Accounting system
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve Workday Financial system discrepancies related to Service Center transactions, billing, and reporting, working collaboratively as needed to ensure accurate and timely financial processing
• Familiarity with Federal, New York State, and New York City financial regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including the ability to create and use mid-level Excel functions
• Proficiency in using technology to generate reports, analyze and forecast trends, research issues, and support training efforts
• Demonstrated success in building cooperative working relationships, resolving obstacles and making timely and effective decisions
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including all levels of management and external organizations
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment while meeting deadlines
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
• Strong time management and organizational skills
Pay Range:
$97,545.47 - $117,995.02
