It will involve the design and development of embedded firmware (drivers, RTOS, Application, hardware interaction). The need is to work independently on complex problems, influence software architecture, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring scalable, high-quality software solutions and to collaborate closely with Firmware, Applications, and Systems teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production-quality embedded firmware for microcontroller- and SoC-based systems.
- Work on data acquisition and signal generation systems using high-speed ADCs and DACs
- Own low-level software components including boot code, device drivers, RTOS integration, and Bare-Metal firmware
- Debug & root-cause system-level issues involving hardware–software interaction and optimize firmware for performance, memory, power, and real-time constraints.
- Perform hardware-software co-design and debugging
- Understand and use board-level schematics to debug hardware–software integration issues
- Work with SPI, I²C, UART for sensor configuration, control, and register access
- Collaborate with hardware teams for board bring-up and validation
- Collaborate closely with Firmware, Applications, and Systems teams to deliver complete customer solutions
- Support customer enablement through reference software, integration guidance, and technical troubleshooting
Required Technical Capabilities (Must Have)
- Strong experience with C/C++ in embedded systems
- Understanding of electrical measurements (voltage, current, power, harmonics)
- Strong technical oral and written communication skills
- Hands‑on experience with ROS and any RTOS like Zephyr, Embedded Linux, etc.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers/FPGA based SOC
- Solid understanding of SPI and I²C protocols and their use in sensor integration
- Strong debugging skills, including Root cause analysis across drivers, SDKs, and hardware, and debugging directly on customer platforms
- Ability to read and understand board-level schematics and hardware documentation
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
Preferred Skills (Good to have)
- Experience with Xilinx-based FPGA SoC platforms (Zynq)
- Experience with high-speed data acquisition systems
- Understanding of DMA-based data transfers
- Experience with test & measurement / instrumentation products
Generative AI & Modern Development Practices
- Use Generative AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot‑style assistants) to improve productivity and software quality in firmware and API development
- Apply AI tools for code generation, refactoring, documentation drafting, test scaffolding, and design exploration
Critically review and validate AI-generated outputs to ensure correctness, safety, performance, and compliance with coding standards
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related discipline) with 5+ years of experience.
- Significant industry experience in embedded software development, with demonstrated impact on complex products.
- Hands‑on, practical experience is required; this role is not suitable for purely academic backgrounds.
Senior Level Expectations
At ADI, a senior-level engineer is expected to:
- Act as a go-to technical expert in their domain.
- Work independently on complex, high impact technical challenges.
- Influence technical direction across projects or teams without formal authority.
