About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Bilue, you’ll be a technical leader and trusted advisor, driving forward our values, ways of working, and commitment to exceptional client outcomes. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and delivering high-quality solutions, while setting the standard for technical excellence within your team.

At this stage in your career, you’re confident operating independently in complex delivery environments, shaping technical approaches, and guiding both clients and colleagues towards the best outcomes. You’ll balance delivery with strategic thinking, championing quality, and nurturing collaborative, client-focused relationships.

Skills & Responsibilities

• Lead by example in engineering practices, setting high standards for code quality, architecture, and technical decision-making.

• Mentor and coach team members, fostering growth, knowledge sharing, and high performance.

• Represent Bilue as a senior consultant within client engagements, demonstrating technical authority, leadership, and professionalism.

• Shape and refine delivery processes to improve efficiency, quality, and client value.

• Analyse and evaluate system requirements, processes, and limitations, recommending improvements and upgrades to enhance performance and efficiency.

• Take a proactive, solution-focused approach to projects, questioning assumptions and identifying opportunities for innovation.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured code aligned to best practices and design principles.

• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, end-user guides, and operational procedures in accordance with quality standards.

• Design, architect, and deliver scalable back-end and/or front-end systems using modern frameworks and languages.

• Implement automated testing and CI/CD pipelines to maintain high-quality, stable releases.

• Conduct and lead peer code reviews, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions.

• Build strong, trust-based client relationships, delivering with empathy, transparency, and care.

• Understand and manage commercial expectations, ensuring delivery aligns with contractual outcomes and value.

• Contribute to Bilue’s thought leadership through blog posts, conference participation, or public speaking.

• Actively participate in and help lead internal tech communities, driving continuous improvement.

About You

• Significant experience (generally 5+ years) in professional software engineering, ideally within a consulting or agile delivery environment.

• Proven ability to design, develop and deliver scalable web or mobile applications using modern programming languages such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Kotlin or Swift.

• Strong understanding of software design patterns, clean architecture principles and testing methodologies, with a track record of writing clean, maintainable code.

• Proficiency with version control (e.g. Git) and CI/CD tools, and experience implementing automated testing to ensure high-quality releases.

• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, and leading root cause analysis to deliver lasting solutions.

• Experience mentoring and coaching other engineers, and contributing to technical decision-making and architectural planning.

• Effective communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to build trust and collaborate in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience integrating with APIs, databases and modern frameworks.

• Bonus: Exposure to DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, or contributions to open-source projects.
