Introduction:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to support the SecD Development Portfolio (SDP), which includes three mission-critical applications and a team of ten staff. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on developer with deep expertise in Java-based technologies, database development, and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will provide both development and operations support, ensuring high availability and performance of production systems in a dynamic and secure environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Provide strategic technical solutions and guidance across the development portfolio.
- Perform full-stack software development and database engineering.
- Deliver operations and maintenance (O&M) support for production Java applications with Oracle backends and Tomcat/JBoss servers.
- Engage with customers and users to gather requirements and ensure satisfaction.
- Support application availability during core and non-core hours as needed to meet mission demands.
- Collaborate with team members in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation and DevOps practices to streamline deployments and improve system reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in software development using:
- Java 8 (J2EE), React, Spring Framework 5+, Spring Boot 2
- JavaScript/AJAX, Hibernate 5+, SQL/RDBMS (Oracle and PostgreSQL)
- RESTful Web Services, Apache Tomcat, Red Hat JBoss
- Linux (RHEL, CentOS), Eclipse IDE, Maven, Git
- 10+ years of experience in database development and SQL/RDBMS (Oracle and PostgreSQL).
- 10+ years of experience in UI development using JavaScript.
- 10 years of experience in full software development lifecycle (SDLC) including analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
- 10 years of experience supporting enterprise applications with 24/7 availability.
- 5+ years of experience with AWS services (Console, RDS, S3, EBS, AMIs, IaaS).
- 5+ years of experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
- 5+ years of experience using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience with CI/CD tools and automation.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, planning, and time management abilities.
- Self-motivated with a strong initiative to support team growth and success.

Clearance Required: Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certifications or equivalent cloud credentials.
- Experience in federal or defense environments.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure coding standards.
- Background in performance tuning and system optimization.
