About Unloan

We’re Unloan – a fast-moving, product-led digital home lending business backed by the Commonwealth Bank. We’re reimagining how Australians experience home loans, and we’re looking for a hands-on engineer to join our Platform Team.

You’ll join the Platform Team — a high-impact team responsible for building and scaling the foundational systems that empower every engineer at Unloan to move faster and safer.

• Platform leadership: Drive design and evolution of our internal platform capabilities—developer workflows, secure defaults, cloud architecture, and automation tooling.

• AI enablement: Champion GitHub Copilot, PromptOps, and other GenAI-first developer workflows across our org—embedding AI into how we code, test, and ship.

• Monitoring & ownership: Own the design and implementation of our monitoring and observability stack, and promote engineering ownership of systems through better visibility and feedback loops.

• Hands-on: Build and improve core platform tooling using TypeScript, Terraform, Github Actions, Bicep, focusing on CI pipelines, code build processes, Azure Functions, and SDK upgrades. Stay close to the code to lead by example and drive continuous improvement.

• Supercharge delivery: Remove friction, reduce cognitive load, and unlock developer speed and confidence.

• Build secure, scalable foundations: Design for resilience, least-privilege, and high availability from the start.

• Push boundaries with AI: Uplift Engineering output through careful use and implementation of AI solutions to maximally leverage existing patterns/solutions to obtain the outcome in a smart manner.

• Be a pragmatic builder and internal evangelist: someone who deeply understands engineering workflows, loves reducing toil, and sees AI as the next great leap in software delivery.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

• Strong full-stack software engineering background (e.g., TypeScript, Node.js, Python), with solid infrastructure and DevOps capabilities. You will let LLM help you write most code, but you need to be able to review it.

• Experience designing and running CI/CD pipelines, implementing GitHub Actions, working with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep), and building cloud-native services (Azure preferred).

• Passion for platform engineering—thinks like a product owner, delivers like a dev.

• Strong interest or experience in integrating AI tools (e.g., Copilot, LLM APIs) into dev workflows.

• Any experience with the following would be great - Azure, GitHub Actions, Docker-heavy microservice environments, large-scale distributed systems, and have a solid grasp of networking fundamentals or experience in system admin / DBA responsibilities
