Senior Software Engineer

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer in the Data Engineering Department to serve as the technical leader for our data platform team, DataOps. In this pivotal role, you will own the platform’s technical delivery and excellence while collaborating with team members and stakeholders to align on a shared vision. This role combines technical expertise, strategic collaboration, and mentorship to drive innovation and foster a high-performing team environment.

What You’ll Do Here

Team

• Own the platform’s architecture, technical health, observability, and reliability.
• Lead architectural design processes and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Propose and implement features that improve platform efficiency, scalability, and developer experience.
• Research and recommend new technologies to enhance the platform.
• Break down complex technical initiatives into actionable deliverables for the team.

Stakeholders

• Act as the platform’s Product Owner, representing technical priorities across teams.
• Provide technical insights to guide product roadmaps, cost analysis, and optimization.
• Mentor and empower team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Work with the team manager to identify growth opportunities for individuals and the team.
• Promote collaboration and clear communication within and across teams.
• Ability to step back from the customer requirements, perform analysis, suggest solutions from the technical perspective, and sell them to the developers as well as the customer
• Inspire others, sell technical concepts and ideas in a way that others will follow

What You'll Bring To Us

• Strong technical background in computer science, programming, statistics, and/or mathematics
• Strong track record of leading technical initiatives and cross-team collaborations.
• Excellent communication and mentorship skills.
• Great general awareness of existing data technologies, trends, and best practices
• Willingness to learn new technologies and tools; ability to validate them through PoCs
• An organized way of working with a focus on disciplined delivery (both time and budget-wise)
• Very proactive approach to solving problems
• Fluent written and spoken English

Technology & Data

• Required: Java 21, Spring framework, NoSQL (e.g. DynamoDB or MongoDB), Elasticsearch, Docker, distributed systems
• Nice to have: AWS data stack, Streaming Pub/Sub, ML models, Apache Spark, PySpark, Apache Flink, RDBMS, ETLs, DWH data modeling, integration testing, LocalStack, CI/CD

We’re looking for candidates already living in the Czech Republic with a valid work permit, as we’re unable to provide relocation support for this role.
