Senior Software Engineer
About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be a key contributor designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure solutions for the Marketplacer platform. You'll architect new features, drive technical quality, promote best practices, and mentor other engineers, leveraging modern tools to deliver great software effectively.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who brings strong foundational software engineering skills and embraces modern development tools, including AI assistants, to enhance productivity and code quality. At Marketplacer, we value engineers who thoughtfully leverage tools like Copilot or LLM assistants to streamline workflows, experiment faster, and focus on solving complex business problems. We view AI tools as an asset to core software engineering, not a replacement for fundamental design, architecture, and problem-solving skills.
What you'll own
- Solution Design: Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure software for our cloud-native SaaS platform.
- Data Architecture: Contribute to our data platform, building reliable data models, metrics, and dashboards that support product and operational decisions.
- Technical Ownership: Take a piece of work from inception to delivery, including architecture validation and design.
- Code Quality: Drive quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion new ideas and software engineering best practices, including the practical use of developer tools and AI-assisted workflows.
- Cross-functional Delivery: Partner closely with Product and UX/UI to ship high-quality features.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years' experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., Ruby, Python, Java, C#, or similar) and web application frameworks (such as Ruby on Rails). Strong general engineering foundations and adaptability are key.
- Hands-on experience incorporating AI coding tools or LLM APIs into daily workflows or features, with a balanced approach to code quality, testing, and security.
- Comfort with automated testing, CI/CD, and continuous integration practices.
- Solid SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and data services.
- A track record of building cloud-native solutions and solving real scaling problems.
- Experience designing and validating architectures.
- Strong communication skills, spoken and written.
