WHAT WE DO
The Search Infrastructure Team develops and operates the foundational search capabilities behind Relativity Search.
Relativity Search is a suite of applications that empowers customers to find relevant information, then retrieve and present it. Search products cover document ingestion, index building, searching, and search term report execution. Stable, high-performance search directly impacts customer experience and is critical for the organization.
The Search Infrastructure Team builds, maintains, and monitors distributed search infrastructure; improves scalability and query performance; advances automation and operational excellence; and applies data-driven techniques to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost at scale.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Search Infrastructure Team, you will help build, operate, and scale the search platform that powers mission-critical customer workflows across RelativityOne.
This role focuses on running petabyte-scale search infrastructure with strong reliability, performance, observability, and operational discipline. You will identify and implement optimizations, drive platform enhancements, define and promote engineering standards, and help shape the future architecture of the service. Working alongside the Lead Engineer and cross-functional partners, you will align technical execution with the long-term search platform vision.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design, build, and operate scalable search platform capabilities in a cloud environment.

  • Run and improve production systems that support high-volume, mission-critical customer workflows.

  • Develop high-quality, maintainable code using sound software engineering practices.

  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, resolve defects, and support customer-impacting incidents.

  • Improve observability, automation, capacity planning, and operational readiness for search infrastructure.

  • Participate in production support and on-call responsibilities after appropriate onboarding.

  • Collaborate with engineering, SRE, product, and architecture partners to evolve the search platform roadmap.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing commercial-grade software systems or infrastructure platforms.

  • Experience building, operating, or scaling distributed systems in production.

  • Familiarity with running mission-critical systems at scale, including reliability, availability, and operational readiness practices.

  • Production support or on-call experience, including incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose complex system behavior using operational data.

  • Experience designing or developing scalable solutions in a major public cloud environment.

  • Hands-on programming experience in a modern backend language.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, SRE, product, and architecture teams.

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred

  • Experience running and scaling petabyte-scale search, indexing, or retrieval infrastructure.

  • Experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Lance, TurboPuffer, or comparable search/vector infrastructure.

  • Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native platform operations.

  • Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure management.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or similar technologies.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and progressive delivery practices.

  • Experience building or operating monitoring, observability, and alerting systems such as Grafana, Prometheus, or New Relic.

  • Comfortable working in Linux-based production environments.

  • Experience improving performance, reliability, cost efficiency, or operational toil in large-scale infrastructure systems.

This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives.

The expected salary range for this role is between following values:

208 000 and 312 000PLN

The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
