We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (SEG3) to support a large support services contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command.


Position Description: You will provide support to the Program and Deputy Program Manager of a 200 person contractor team that includes subcontractor personnel.


​​​Work location and telework: The government work location is the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Contractors will be required to work at the Navy Yard and in nearby office locations up to 5 days a week.  Teleworking may be possible with the customers’ approval but will need to evolve as the work relationships evolve.


Responsibilities and Duties:

Software Engineers research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. They may also perform the following duties:

        Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

        Update or enhance existing software capabilities.

        Work with other functional disciplines (e.g., project management, acquisition, logistics, security, etc.) to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and performance requirements.

        Maintain databases within an application area.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       ​Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

·       Certification requirements: None

·       Education and experience: There are three different ways to be qualified for this position:

1. A high school degree, or a GED, and twenty (20) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience, OR

2. A bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and fifteen (15) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience, OR

3. A master's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and ten (10) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production and/or test experience. 

 

Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       Active Secret Clearance

·       Certificates: Project Management Professional (PMP)

·       Experience:

o   Agile Software Development

o   Software Baseline Management

o   Combat System integration

o   Developer resource estimation and management

o   Software configuration management

o   Software systems engineering, testing and certification processes

o   SW ECP development, ship change processes, maintenance, and SW fielding

o   Expertise in software metrics, analytics, tools, and processes 


Travel Requirements:

·       Travel should be infrequent but include occasional trips to support government efforts at East and West Coast naval-centric areas like Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA.

Skills Required

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • High school diploma or GED plus 20 years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser software system design, development, production, or test experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline plus 15 years of relevant software system design, development, production, or test experience in the specified naval technology areas.
  • Master's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline plus 10 years of relevant software system design, development, production, or test experience in the specified naval technology areas.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development.
  • Experience with software baseline management.
  • Experience with combat system integration.
  • Experience estimating and managing developer resources.
  • Experience with software configuration management.
  • Experience with software systems engineering, testing, and certification processes.
  • Experience with software engineering change proposal development, ship change processes, maintenance, and software fielding.
  • Expertise in software metrics, analytics, tools, and processes.
