About the role

Medicom is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about building high-quality software and exploring how AI can accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance the engineering experience. What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable software solutions for medical imaging workflows.
- Evaluate, experiment with, and champion AI-powered development tools and workflows that improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Identify opportunities to responsibly integrate AI into the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, documentation, debugging, and developer workflows.
- Partner with the engineering team to establish best practices for effective and secure use of AI-assisted development.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define, implement, and refine new features and system improvements.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in clinical environments by troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing application performance.
- Contribute to the efficiency of development pipelines by supporting continuous integration, testing, and deployment efforts.
- Engage in collaborative programming practices such as pair programming, participate in knowledge-sharing activities like brown-bag discussions, and attend daily stand-ups to align on project goals.
- Provide remote development support to customers when needed in collaboration with customer support specialists.
- Take advantage of Medicom's self-paced learning resources to continually develop technical skills, deepen product knowledge, and stay current with industry advancements.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Demonstrated passion for applying AI to software engineering, including hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and a curiosity for evaluating emerging technologies that improve engineering productivity, code quality, and developer experience.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as JavaScript and TypeScript
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Quicksight Experience or metrics reporting experience
- Front-end development experience, especially with Vue (or another reactive framework), AWS Amplify, and micro-frontends. Not required, but a willingness to contribute to front-end work is expected of all engineers on the team.
- Experience or knowledge of healthcare standards (e.g., DICOM, HL7, FHIR, SMART on FHIR) and medical imaging software.
- Experience with serverless/event-driven architecture.
- Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases.
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Preference for collaborative programming practices such as pair programming.

The value of a health information network is dependent on the willing participation of providers, hospitals, and imaging centers in a community. While technology can support the adoption of health information networks — from large hospitals and IDNs to private practices alike — the technology on its own has little to no value. Many medical image sharing solutions and health information networks are implemented within an organization’s walls, without considering how to support and connect providers in the community. Medicom has taken the unique approach to better serve providers by building health information networks with service and support organizations that are experts on their local communities. These service and support organizations provide local resources to hospitals around the United States, with teams who are familiar with their customers, and able to quickly and efficiently establish community-based solutions.
