Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join the National Systems Programs (NSP) software team in El Segundo CA or Chantilly, VA.
The selected candidate will perform full stack development using the AWS infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience working across the tech stack with a solid understanding of software architecture, infrastructure tooling, and engineering fundamentals. The candidate will collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders to design and implement scalable software solutions, ensure engineering excellence, and achieve program objectives.
As a member of the Boeing software team, you will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and development to the maintenance and support of the delivered system for our customers. Position Responsibilities:
- Leads the design, development, test, and maintenance of web applications that meet industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards
- Leads the review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into initial design of software products
- Coordinates the development, maintenance, enhancement and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations
- Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
- Leads the agile software development lifecycle including planning, reviews, and supporting customer meetings
- Debugs and leads the resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
- Leads handling of user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis
- Leads research and implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
- Leads development, establishment, monitoring and improvement of software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
- Leads execution and documentation of software research and development projects.
- Consult on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
- Leads software project management activities and software supplier management functions
- Leads tracking and evaluation of software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards
Security Clearance:
This position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years' experience designing and developing software for complex systems (i.e. Distributed Systems, Multi-Threaded and Multi-Process Applications) and a foundation in computer science and software development
- 5+ years' experience with Python
- 5+ plus years' experience front end web programming (Angular 9/10+, Typescript, JavaScript)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience
- Experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns
- Experience with Agile or SAFe practices, including daily standup, User Stories, Sprints, and Release Planning
- Familiarity with relational databases
- Experience with Infrastructure Tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines)
- Experience in writing and executing test cases, including unit, integration, and system testing, to ensure software functionality and performance meet specifications
- Experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems

Summary pay range: USD $171,700 - $232,300
