GRAIL is looking for a full-time Senior Software Engineer for the Software Test Team whose technical strengths focus on writing software for testing automation of application integrations using a middleware platform and API integration. In this role, you will be involved in writing software for end-to-end test scenarios, developing and debugging test automation scripts, executing, and then integrating those tests in the platform for ongoing automated regression testing.

This position is located at GRAIL’s headquarters in Menlo Park, CA with a hybrid work schedule of in the office 2 days a week.

Responsibilities

Software Development in Python and Java.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts for API Integrations.
Develop unit, regression, and integration tests using appropriate tools (e.g. Postman for APIs, Go, Javascript, Python, Java) in a GitLab repo.
Perform appropriate verification and validation of the test scripts.
Update and manage CI/CD pipeline for regression/release testing.
Conduct Manual Testing of User-facing Applications where necessary
Collaborate with the Application Engineering team on a sprint release cadence.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have a BS/BA and 5+ years or a Masters and 2+ years of experience in software development for automated testing experience or equivalent.
Good understanding/exposure to overall API-Management concepts & fundamentals.
Experience in developing RAML-based RESTful API and Grpc.
Programming experience in Go, JavaScript, Python, or Java
Good understanding of data structures and database queries.
Experience with Salesforce, DB, and File/FTP.
Good understanding of enterprise integration patterns.
A solid understanding of web application testing and UI automation with WDIO.
Experience with middleware testing..
Success working in an agile environment.
Team player with a supportive attitude to working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal listening and communication skills.

The expected, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $148,000 - 180,000. Actual base pay will consider skills, experience, and location.

Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.

A huge data set with an even bigger impact

“Cancer is a nasty, diverse disease that can affect widely different regions in the genome,” Principal Scientist Joerg Bredno said, and understanding how and why cells change isn’t easy. Luckily, his team works with more than 12 petabytes of molecular data — which translates to more than 1 million gigabytes — and a high-performance scientific computing environment that can handle analysis at that scale. With these tools, Bredno’s team is building an even larger training data set for the next generation of GRAIL’s early detection, multi-cancer screening test, slated to roll out this year.

It is rewarding that we can see, learn and share relevant insights from our data that so far doesn't exist anywhere else in the world in this form.
