We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize embedded software systems, playing a key part in shaping our software architecture and driving hardware bring-up initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Architecting and developing robust embedded software solutions
- Optimize software for performance, reliability and maintainability
- Develop and maintain containerized environments and Linux packaging pipelines
- Experience with board/system bring-up and hardware-software integration
- Contributing technical leadership across the product lifecycle
- Provide technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle
What We’re Looking For
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in embedded environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in C++, with a strong command of modern best practices and performance-conscious development
- Proven experience in embedded architecture and system design
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, and optimizing Docker containers and Debian/Linux packages
Asset/Nice to Have
- Experience with SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud)
- Demonstrated success in software bring-up on new or custom hardware platforms
- System and product-level experience in a technical lead capacity
- Contributing to open-source projects

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $110,625 - $149,675 CAD (Flexible).
Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. In line with our commitment to being a great place to work, Lumentum offers competitive total rewards which may include annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive health and welfare benefits.

Skills Required

- Deep understanding of SONiC architecture (core and host services, NBI, database)
