Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Senior UNIX Automation Engineer) to join Sopra Steria Polska and become part of a team responsible for automating and managing a large-scale Unix/Linux infrastructure environment. The team develops automation solutions that support the configuration, patching, rebooting, and lifecycle management of thousands of servers while providing advanced operational support for critical systems. In this role, you will contribute to the design and continuous improvement of automation platforms, helping to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability across the infrastructure landscape.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain automation solutions for managing large-scale Unix/Linux environments, including configuration management, patching, and system lifecycle operations.
- Build and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Ansible, AAP (Ansible Tower/AWX), GitLab, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Provide 3rd-level support for automation platforms and Unix systems, troubleshooting complex issues and implementing long-term improvements.
- Develop and optimize automated workflows to streamline deployment, configuration, orchestration, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and operations teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure services.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, automation standards, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and operational excellence.

QualificationsMust have:
- Strong Linux/Unix system administration experience, including storage management (LVM, filesystems, NFS) and enterprise-scale infrastructure operations.
- Hands-on expertise with Ansible, AAP (Ansible Tower/AWX), Red Hat Satellite, EfficientIP, Python, Bash, GitLab, and CFEngine.
- Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies and CI/CD principles and practices.
- Proven background in automation engineering, system administration, or infrastructure engineering within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in agile and cross-functional teams.
- Proactive and detail-oriented.
- Fluent English: B2/C1.
- EU citizenship.
- Being open to occasional business trips abroad and visits in our office in Katowice.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Terraform, Kickstart, Podman, HAProxy, VTOM, n8n, ServiceNow integrations, or other workflow orchestration tools.
- Exposure to Perl/PHP automation scripts and AI/LLM-powered tools supporting automation, development, or documentation processes.

Salary range:
UOP: 12 000-16 000 PLN gross/month.
B2B: 100-140 PLN net/h
