The Statsig team within OpenAI builds the experimentation, feature rollout, dynamic configuration, and analytics systems that help OpenAI ship products with speed, safety, and evidence. Our work sits on the critical path for how product, engineering, research, and go-to-market teams learn from real-world usage and make high-confidence decisions.

Statsig began as an independent company focused on helping builders move faster through trustworthy experimentation and feature management. After Statsig joined OpenAI, the team began the next chapter: bringing that deep product expertise, customer intuition, and mature platform infrastructure into OpenAI as the experimentation and rollout platform for every product we ship.

Today, we support teams across ChatGPT, Codex, model measurement, consumer experiences including ads, business subscriptions, developer products, and the shared infrastructure that connects them. These teams rely on Statsig to safely introduce new capabilities, compare product and model behavior, measure impact, and roll changes forward or back with confidence.

We are at a defining moment in the platform journey. OpenAI has the data, product surface area, and pace of innovation to learn faster than almost any organization in the world, but that potential only becomes real if teams can experiment responsibly, measure clearly, and roll out changes safely. Adoption of the platform is accelerating rapidly across the company, and recent SDK and server-side infrastructure work has already produced measurable wins in latency, reliability, memory usage, and compute efficiency for important services.

Based out of OpenAI’s Bellevue office, we are a close-knit team that values in-person collaboration, urgency, craft, and impact. We build for other builders, and the best version of this team is one where every OpenAI product team can move faster because the experimentation and rollout layer is dependable, fast, and easy to use.

We are looking for a senior product engineer to help build the systems that make experimentation and rollout a first-class capability across OpenAI. You will work across frontend, backend, SDK, data, and infrastructure surfaces, with a focus on making complex workflows feel simple for the teams shipping OpenAI’s most important products.

This role is not only about adding features to a platform. It is about shaping the operating system OpenAI uses to decide what to launch, how to learn from it, and how to protect users and products as we scale. OpenAI’s next phase depends on our ability to move quickly without losing rigor, and Statsig is one of the places where that balance becomes real.

You will collaborate closely with teams building ChatGPT, Codex, model measurement workflows, consumer monetization and ads, business subscription experiences, developer products, and shared infrastructure. You will translate their launch and measurement needs into platform capabilities that can support the full company, not just one-off use cases.

• Build product experiences and platform capabilities for experimentation, feature flags, dynamic configuration, rollout safety, and analytics.

• Partner with product teams to understand launch workflows, measurement needs, and decision points, then turn those insights into durable platform features.

• Improve SDK and server-side systems so experimentation and configuration are fast, reliable, and safe for high-scale OpenAI services.

• Help teams across ChatGPT, Codex, model measurement, ads, business subscriptions, developer products, and infrastructure use Statsig effectively.

• Design workflows that make it easier to create experiments, interpret results, monitor rollouts, and act quickly when a launch needs adjustment.

• Contribute to the technical direction of a platform that must support rapid adoption, high availability, and increasingly sophisticated product and model evaluation needs.

• Work from the Bellevue office with a team that values ownership, clear communication, and high-trust collaboration.

• Have strong full-stack engineering judgment and enjoy building product surfaces that sit on top of serious platform and infrastructure constraints.

• Care deeply about developer experience and can make powerful experimentation concepts feel intuitive to busy product teams.

• Are excited by the post-acquisition chapter of a high-performing team: preserving what made Statsig strong while integrating deeply into OpenAI’s product development system.

• Like working on systems where performance, reliability, and product quality all matter at the same time.

• Can move between customer conversations, product design, backend architecture, SDK behavior, and data-informed decision making.

• Want your work to influence how OpenAI ships across ChatGPT, Codex, model measurement, consumer monetization, business products, and future product surfaces.

• Value in-person collaboration and want to help shape a growing Bellevue-based team.

This role is based in Bellevue, Washington. The team works in person and uses that time to move quickly, solve ambiguous problems together, and stay close to the product teams we support.
