Do you want to be part of a fast-growing company that places an emphasis on being at the forefront of logistical technology innovation?  CDS Logistics & Home Services is seeking a talented senior engineer to join our team of Software Developers, building both the core applications that run a leading final mile logistics company and the AI capabilities that will shape how our people work.

Our Full Stack Developers are responsible for working with multiple teams and partners to build employee and client-facing applications in an agile environment, reporting directly to the Software Development Manager and CIO.  Our primary goal is to ensure excellent operational standards are met while maintaining high customer satisfaction by providing employees and customers with custom state-of-the-art technology to meet the demands of a growing industry. 

The Role

In this role, you will have the ability to work remotely while supporting strategic software development projects in completing project-based work. You can anticipate this role to focus on driving change in our business by creating reliable, scalable, high-performing, and secure applications across several platforms including desktop, console, web, and mobile.

This role is an even split between two areas of work. Half of your time will go to building and improving our .NET applications. The other half will go to designing and delivering AI capabilities on Microsoft Azure, starting with an AI-powered knowledge search that helps employees quickly find answers across our SOPs and how-to documentation. You will also be the team’s go-to resource for AI-assisted development, helping fellow developers get the most from tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude.

Essential Job Functions:

• Collaborate with highly talented teammates to not just solve problems, but find elegant, accessible technology solutions for business needs

• Collaborate closely with your customer base and teammates to understand development requirements, and to design and deliver solutions using the various technologies.

• Develop code and integrate IT solutions by using appropriate development methodologies and standards, adopting/applying standard architectures/patterns, taking into account critical performance characteristics, security measures, and customer requirements.

• Execute activities to support existing applications and databases.

• Bring forward new technologies to assist the team in determining if and how they can be utilized to meet team goals and organizational strategic objectives.

• Learn new skills and refine existing skills through professional development with the ability to gain experience in a wide variety of areas

• Deliver an exceptional user experience to CDS’ nationwide last mile delivery operations through our vast customer-facing tools

• Design, build, and operate AI features in CDS applications using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, and related Azure AI services.

• Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions over CDS content, including document ingestion from SharePoint, chunking, embeddings, hybrid and semantic search, and answers that cite their sources.

• Develop LLM agents and tool integrations, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, that connect AI safely to CDS systems and data.

• Build evaluation harnesses and test sets that measure AI answer quality, accuracy, speed, and cost, and use them to monitor AI features after release.

• Apply AI guardrails, including permission-aware retrieval, prompt-injection defenses, data privacy protections, and compliance with the CDS AI Usage Policy.

• Coach and mentor fellow developers on AI-assisted development, including effective use of GitHub Copilot and Claude, review standards for AI-generated code, and shared prompt and pattern libraries.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not be responsible for the management of others. It is, however, expected to mentor and coach other developers on AI tools and practices.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, telephones. This position also operates near a warehouse environment, however only trained personnel are permitted to access the warehouse environment while observing all safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
• Hands on experience with .NET stack (.NET9+, C#, ASP.NET MVC, REST API, Blazor, and Entity Framework).
• Hands-on experience with Vue.js, React or Angular, and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with CQRS, Repository, and Unit of Work design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL T-SQL scripting (e.g. queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers) and query performance tuning techniques.
• Hands-on experience with integrating applications with third-party web services, API, and libraries including handling authentication (e.g. JWT, OAuth).
• Hands-on experience with application automated testing (e.g. Unit Testing, Integration Test, and E2E).
• Daily, hands-on use of AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate code generation, testing, and deployment, paired with disciplined review and testing of AI-generated code.
• Hands-on experience with Identity solutions (e.g. IdentityServer4).
• Hands-on experience with Git and branching strategies used in DevOps practices.
• You have excellent analytical skills as well as communication skills both verbal and written.
• You take initiative and operate with accountability in a remote environment.
• You are motivated by solving problems and finding creative client-focused solutions.
• You believe in autonomy and taking initiative.

AI Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building at least one AI application (professional, pilot, or personal project) using large language model (LLM) APIs such as Azure OpenAI, with the ability to walk us through its design and code.
• Working knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG): embeddings, vector and hybrid search, chunking strategies, and relevance tuning.
• Experience with prompt engineering, function/tool calling, and structured outputs.
• Familiarity with an AI orchestration framework such as Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Agent Framework, or LangChain.
• Understanding of how to test and evaluate AI output for accuracy and reliability, not just generate it.
• Ability to explain AI concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues and to teach AI practices to other developers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Salesforce MuleSoft.
• Hands-on experience with .NET MAUI or Xamarin (e.g. Android development).
• Experience shipping AI features to production and supporting them after launch.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, or Azure AI Document Intelligence.
• Experience building or integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
• Experience with LLM evaluation tools (e.g., Azure AI Foundry evaluations, Ragas, promptfoo).
• Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Microsoft Fabric or Power BI.
• Microsoft Azure AI certification (e.g., Azure AI Engineer Associate).
