Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

As a Senior Software Engineer -Java you will support the organisation, achieve its strategic objectives by the identification of business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities.

To be a successful Senior Software Engineer -Java you should have experience with:

  • Extensive hands-on development experience with Core Java (Java 17+), Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.

  • Strong expertise in designing and developing Microservices-based architectures using Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, and Spring Data.

  • Proven experience in building and integrating RESTful APIs, Web Services, and event-driven applications.

  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, and source control tools such as Git and Bitbucket.

  • Experience leading technical design discussions, code reviews, and mentoring development teams.

  • Strong knowledge of application performance tuning, scalability, security, and resiliency patterns.

  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments with responsibility for end-to-end feature delivery.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder communication skills.

  • 8+years of professional experience

Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Barclays Cloud Platform (BCP).

  • Hands-on experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka and IBM MQ.

  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.

  • Experience with Liquibase or similar database schema/version management tools.

  • Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and domain-driven design principles.

  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and delivery tools such as Jira.

  • Experience in the banking, wealth management, or financial services domain.

  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.

  • Ability to drive technical innovation, modernization initiatives, and engineering best practices across teams.

You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is based in Pune.
