What you'll do
- Build and scale core infrastructure for our digital health platform, including early applications of AI to automate workflows, enhance patient experiences, and surface insights for our providers and care team.
- Own high-impact projects across multiple surfaces: provider portal, patient experience, operations enablement, and marketplace dynamics.
- Move fast—build provider and patient UIs, integrate 3rd-party services, and make architectural decisions with our Head of Engineering, Head of Product, and Founders.
- Make things work. You’ll get your hands dirty with APIs, backend services, and frontend components—all in service of a seamless experience for our users.
- 5+ years in engineering. You’ve built and scaled systems, made complex engineering decisions, and have proven out your technical skills in the industry.
- Full-stack web development experience with a lean towards platform/back-end work. You have experience working with REST APIs and GraphQL, modern web frameworks, relational databases such as postgreSQL, have an understanding of HTML, CSS, strong Javascript skills, and at least one backend language.
- Curiosity about AI. You don’t need prior ML experience, but you’re excited about how tools like LLMs can unlock new product capabilities and improve engineering velocity.
- Production experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) to accelerate development velocity and prototyping.
- Entrepreneurial spirit. You have worked in an early-stage startup and understand the value of owning your work.
- Product thinker. You want to build through a user-centric lens and be involved not only in engineering decisions but product and design decisions as well. You understand the value of 0 to 1 thinking.
- Leader. You're deeply committed to achieving your goal. You know how to think on the fly, persist through setbacks and roadblocks, and motivate your teammates to do the same.
- Team Player. You are collaborative by nature, relish in camaraderie and group wins, and are looked to by colleagues as a steadfast partner and source of encouragement

Our Interview Process
After you apply to Berry Street, here are some details of what to expect during the interview process:
Initial screen: You’ll connect with our Head of People and Talent so you can learn more about the team, Berry Street’s mission and exciting growth, and we can get a better idea of your background.
Virtual assessments: You’ll complete two virtual technical and non-technical assessments with members of the Engineering team.
Final round interviews: We'll bring you onsite for final interviews with more of the team in person, including our Head of Engineering, hopefully leaving with a fuller picture of what it’s like to work at Berry Street.

- The expected base pay range for this position is $165,000–$225,000, based on various factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
