We are seeking a Staff Developer Experience (DevExperience) Engineer that will collaborate with software engineering teams to develop efficient and effective workflows and tooling across the Fox Robotics software stack to enable the delivery of robust, start-of-the-art software for autonomous forklifts.
What you’ll do:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize build systems across various software applications.
- Identify inefficiencies and technical debt areas within the software stack and implement solutions to address them.
- Lead the transition from outdated tools and platforms towards contemporary, state-of-the-art solutions.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines to take advantage of modern best practices.
- Refactor CI and application-based Docker images for modularity, efficiency and reusability.
- Build internal Fox developer tooling to enhance developer experience, reduce overhead for new hires, and improve daily efficiency.
- Help foster a culture of software engineering excellence through best practices.
What you’ll need:
- 6+ years of experience in software related roles with focus on building and maintaining developer tools.
- Experience with Bazel in a large codebase.
- Fluent in programming Python and Bash languages.
- Containerization of developer tools and applications using Docker or similar.
- Experience defining, developing and integrating software pipelines in professional CI/CD environments in tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Strong Git experience including workflow, branching strategies and best practices.
- Modern workflows for releasing semantically versioned libraries, applications, and tooling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems across multiple application environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with software developers and other stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- GitLab CI/CD templates and/or components.
- Building and optimizing C++ applications for deployment.
- Professional DevOps experience w/ Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with advanced Bazel concepts such as remote cache, remote code execution, profiling, etc.
