Data Platform Engineer

Solvd is hiring a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and operate backend and data platform solutions for enterprise clients. You’ll own critical components end to end, contribute to architecture and engineering standards, and mentor teammates while collaborating closely with product, data, and design partners.

Architecture & Engineering Delivery

• Design scalable, resilient services and data pipelines that meet performance, security, and maintainability requirements.

• Build and maintain APIs and file-based ingestion workflows that support complex partner ecosystems.

• Replace manual and error-prone workflows with robust automated systems and repeatable patterns.

• Contribute to system design decisions, technical roadmaps, and pragmatic tradeoffs in delivery.

Reliability, Observability & Quality

• Implement monitoring, alerting, and data quality checks to improve confidence in analytics and decision-making.

• Use observability tooling to proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve production issues.

• Write high-quality, testable code and raise the bar through reviews, documentation, and best practices.

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with product managers, designers, QA, and data stakeholders to align solutions to business outcomes.

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, feedback, and technical coaching.

• Influence engineering culture: continuous improvement, fast learning cycles, and “repair fast” operational habits.

• Partner Data Ingestion Optimization: Build and enhance API and file-based ingestion pipelines across hundreds of partners.

• Pricing Pipeline Modernization: Replace spreadsheet-driven workflows with an automated pricing engine to reduce risk and improve speed.

• Real-Time Data Visibility: Deliver dashboards and data products that enable vertical-level insights and better decisions.

• Investigation Automation: Create self-serve tools that reduce manual investigation effort and shorten time-to-resolution.

• Unified Alerting & Data Quality: Implement advanced checks and standardized alerting to improve data reliability and governance.

• Reliable partner ingestion and pricing systems that scale with volume and complexity.

• Clear operational ownership: stable releases, fast incident response, and measurable improvements to quality.

• Strong engineering practices adopted by the team through your influence and mentorship.

Experience & Education

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in backend and distributed systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Technical skills

• Strong programming ability in one or more: Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript (or similar).

• Distributed system design and building scalable, high-performance services.

• Data and workflow tooling (some combination of): Apache Airflow, Snowflake, Monte Carlo.

• Strong SDLC fundamentals and experience working in Agile environments.

• Databases: SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Cassandra) familiarity.

• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• APIs and service patterns: REST (GraphQL a plus), microservices architecture.

• DevOps/CI/CD exposure: Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions/Jenkins, IaC (CDK a plus).

• Testing mindset: unit/integration testing and debugging production issues.

• Security awareness: authentication/authorization and secure engineering practices.

• Version control: Git and modern branching workflows.

• Fintech/credit/lending/insurance domain experience; working with external partners and unified pipelines.

• Front-end familiarity (React, Next.js) to collaborate effectively across full-stack surfaces.

• Experience using modern developer productivity tools (Cursor or similar) responsibly in production environments.
