Location Details: Remote - Colombia
At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.
This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings. Your team will be globally distributed, with members located in Colombia, the US, and other countries. This role will report directly to a Senior Manager based in the US.
This position is not eligible to be performed outside of Colombia.
Join Our Team
A world-class Risk management system is critical for the success of any payments business.
The Commerce Transactional Risk team has been around for more than 4 years. During this time, our volume has grown to billions of dollars of GPV annually, and it continues to grow at a healthy rate year over year. We are proud that through this growth our fraud losses have always been comfortably better than our target. This is due to the amazing work that this team has done.
As a Senior Engineer on the Commerce Risk team in Colombia, you will play a lead role in designing and building our Risk services. Here are some exciting technical challenges that you may encounter:
- We are laying down the platform to ingest massive datasets and use them to give real-time (or near real-time) decisions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Fraud patterns are constantly evolving, and a Risk system needs to be highly adaptable. We have built a highly configurable Risk system so that we can roll out new risk rules or make changes to existing ones quickly.
- To improve our adaptability to changing fraud patterns and to improve the accuracy of our decisions, we have started using Machine Learning models to score Transactional Risk.
- Our volume is growing at a very healthy rate. In 2024 and beyond we expect to grow this volume manifold as we integrate deeper into GoDaddy ecosystem. This is bringing some interesting availability and scalability challenges.
What you'll get to do...
- Interact with Product Managers to define, influence, and gather requirements for Transactional Risk solutions.
- Interact with various stakeholders to define robust architectural solutions, with special attention to observability, availability, scalability, and API design.
- Provide technical leadership on mission-critical projects.
- Propose and drive engineering initiatives to reduce technical debt and ensure a solid technical foundation.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers on design and implementation, provide meaningful feedback on PR code reviews; be a strong advocate for engineering best practices.
- Actively write code on important Transactional Risk projects (mostly in Java).
- Help drive on-call rotation, production incident response, and post-mortems.
- Participate in quarterly and annual roadmap planning.
Your experience should include...
- 7+ years of software industry experience with expertise in multiple modern programming languages across multiple platforms and systems.
- 5+ years of Java server-side programming.
- Ownership of the entire software development lifecycle, starting from requirement gathering, scoping, and planning to release and production monitoring and maintenance.
- History of demonstrated desire to learn, document, and share knowledge with others.
- Expertise in large-scale cloud-based distributed systems, databases (relational and NoSQL)
