Role Summary:


LSEG is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team in delivering strategic services for our flagship LSEG Workspace platform. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our technology ecosystem while encouraging a culture of excellence and innovation within your team.



What You’ll Be Doing:


  • End-to-End Delivery: Drive all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture design, implementation, unit testing, and integration. Ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with the product roadmap. Managing iterative releases, and making informed decisions throughout the delivery process.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business, product, and engineering teams to define and refine requirements for strategic improvements to the LSEG Workspace services.
  • Operational Excellence: Collaborate with DevOps to guarantee reliability, scalability, and robust monitoring of infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted service.
  • Leadership & Communication: Articulate business and technical strategies to your team and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Reporting & Governance: Provide regular updates to the Development Director on progress, architecture decisions, dependencies, and potential roadblocks.
  • Team Development: Mentor team members to enhance technical expertise, development practices, and ways of working. Participate in recruitment activities to build and strengthen the team.


What You’ll Bring:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and at least one programming language; Azure, Terraform, and Python experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical understanding of modern web technologies, Linux, containerisation, and the design and operation of critical, high-volume distributed systems.
  • Experience with API gateways or web traffic management technologies would be beneficial.
  • Consistent track record managing multiple projects and complex product development cycles in an Agile environment. Experience leading distributed, cross-functional teams to deliver software projects under timelines.
  • Ability to define the technical vision and architecture for critical platform components, make informed engineering trade-offs, and lead teams from design through delivery.
  • Customer-focused approach, skilled in identifying project opportunities, understanding customer needs, and translating them into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly and influence senior leaders, business partners.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a solution-oriented attitude.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the emotional intelligence to build trust, develop people, and lead effectively through change.
