OUR CULTURE

Reducing accidental firearm injuries and deaths requires original thinking and authentic collaboration, so we’re deeply invested in building a team and culture that can achieve our mission together. Team members enjoy autonomy and flexibility from day one, so expect to be immediately tasked with solving challenging problems and building new systems that work. We’ll hold you accountable for executing audacious goals, giving and receiving honest feedback, and helping your teammates succeed. You’ll receive respect, kindness, and support from every direction while you figure out how to get it all done.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, Mobile at Biofire, you will play a pivotal role in owning the test strategy and execution for our iOS and Android apps, plus an integrated custom hardware platform built on AOSP. We are looking for someone who is systems-minded, highly analytical, and technically fluent across mobile and platform layers to contribute to our Engineering team and help ensure we ship safe, reliable product experiences at high velocity.

To succeed, you will need to be able to define a cross-functional test strategy, establish measurable quality baselines (including time-to-test), scale automation (including hardware-integrated testing), and strengthen CI/CD quality gates and release mechanisms. You will need to be a high-ownership technical leader, who is eager to make testing a first-class engineering experience and build a scalable quality system across mobile apps and an AOSP-based hardware platform. If you’re excited about helping to solve mission-critical challenges, we encourage you to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Define and own end-to-end test strategy across iOS, Android, and AOSP-based hardware; drive cross-functional alignment and stakeholder sign-off;

  • Ensure high-quality test execution with minimal disruption to engineering throughput; establish and continuously improve quality standards, reporting, and feedback mechanisms;

  • Establish time-to-test baselines and optimize test cycles, improving speed, reliability, and signal quality through data-driven initiatives;

  • Scale automation for mobile and hardware-integrated testing, identifying gaps and delivering a plan to enable scale, including automation of key hardware-integrated test cases;

  • Own CI/CD and release quality mechanisms, identifying gaps, improving monitoring and alerting, and enabling rapid, high-confidence feedback loops to development teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

We understand that not all applicants will possess skills that perfectly align with our job qualifications. At Biofire, we appreciate diverse experiences from various industries, and we encourage all individuals who meet the necessary qualifications to submit their applications. While having the "desired" qualifications may strengthen a candidate's profile, we also welcome applicants with alternative experiences to apply.

  • Systems-level quality engineering expertise across mobile applications plus hardware-integrated/platform testing; ability to architect for scale, efficiency, and high-signal outcomes;

  • Strong CI/CD and rapid release experience, including quality gates, monitoring/alerting, and reducing time-to-detect/time-to-diagnose regressions;

  • Mobile technical fluency across Android + iOS development, debugging, lifecycle/tooling, and real-world device behavior (performance, connectivity, peripherals);

  • AOSP/platform depth sufficient to diagnose issues beyond the app layer (framework/services/build environment) and collaborate on OS-level changes when required;

  • Track record building maintainable automation stacks, including designing and maintaining stable, readable automated test suites (e.g., Playwright or Selenium as applicable), and connecting automation strategy to CI/CD practices, smoke/regression coverage, and test signal quality;

  • Analytical thinking, strong communication, and quality leadership, including mentoring engineers, leading by example, and driving data-informed decisions through clear, structured communication for the audience.

In addition to competitive pay, as a full-time employee at Biofire you are eligible for:
