- AS400 Developer Experience: 3–5 years Department: Digital Engineering Employment Type: Full-time Role Overview We are looking for an experienced AS400 (IBM i) Developer to design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications on the IBM iSeries platform. The ideal candidate has strong RPG programming skills, a solid understanding of DB2 for i, and experience supporting and modernizing legacy enterprise systems. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the IBM i (AS400/iSeries) platform using RPG (RPG IV / RPGLE / Free-format RPG), CL, and SQL. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and robust solutions. Develop and optimize DB2 for i database objects — physical/logical files, tables, views, and stored procedures. Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, ensuring minimal downtime for business-critical systems. Perform code reviews, unit testing, and support system integration and user acceptance testing (UAT). Maintain and enhance existing legacy applications while supporting modernization initiatives (e.g., migration to free-format RPG, web enablement, API integration). Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams. Create and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions. Adhere to coding standards, change management processes, and SDLC best practices. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 3–5 years of hands-on experience in AS400/IBM i application development. Strong proficiency in RPG IV, RPGLE, and Free-format RPG. Solid experience with CL (Control Language) programming. Strong knowledge of DB2 for i and embedded SQL / SQLRPGLE. Experience with development tools such as RDi (Rational Developer for i), PDM, SEU, and DDS. Good understanding of file structures (physical and logical files), data areas, and data queues. Experience in debugging, performance tuning, and production support. Familiarity with version control and change management tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills Warehouse Management Systems, Food Sales/Service Apps Experience with modernization tools (e.g., web services / REST APIs on IBM i, Profound UI, or similar). Knowledge of integration technologies (MQ, EDI, or middleware). Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies. IBM i certifications. Soft Skills Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Effective collaboration and stakeholder communication.
