As a Senior Software Developer, you will join our engineering team in developing robust, scalable, and mission-critical software for toll collection and transportation management systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in backend and/or embedded software development, a good understanding of toll domain concepts, and a passion for solving complex real-world problems with clean, efficient code.

You will work closely with project managers, software developers, systems support professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely delivery of our technology solutions.

We are seeking a long-term full-time employee for this role to help deliver and support state-of-the-art systems.

Responsibilities:

• Retain product-ownership knowledge for the Toll Collection System - TCS.
• Implement solutions to efficiently resolve bugs or issues in the existing product code (especially for the Toll Collection System - TCS).
• Participate in the design, development and delivery of new software products or product functionalities (in priority for the Toll Collection System - TCS).
• Propose upgrades/renovations of the software engineering processes as well as all tools and infrastructure required for maintaining the efficiency and performance of the team.
• Propose new members for the team (based on requirements).
• Participate in the refinement of the vision, applies it to the team and provides mentorship and guidance to team members.
• Provide expert help and support to team members cooperating on deep code analysis and refactoring (when required).
• Review existing code as well as code changes to identify and register ‘technical debt’ eligible for refactoring.
• Assist (when required) software development lead, project managers and other team leaders in scope verification, budget/effort estimations and planning/scheduling for the support of the existing product code’s deployments as well as the implementation of new software products or product functionalities.
• Follow management meeting outcomes and provide insight, assessment and estimations on software related subjects when needed.
• Attend technical meetings and follow meeting outcomes.
• Organize internal team meetings to manage the day-to-day operations of the team.
• Continuously assist the team members on software principles and quality.
• Support knowledge sharing meetings to advance team skills.

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably within tolling, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), or similar industries.
• Proficiency in C++ and C# programming languages. Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g. Java, Python) will be valued.
• Experience with database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with software version control tools (e.g., Git, SVN).
• Familiarity with web services, REST APIs, and message-based architecture.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Some experience on the following technologies will be considered as an additional asset:

• Experience working with toll collection protocols (e.g., ISO 18000-6C, DSRC, RFID, ANPR).
• Knowledge of transaction processing, reconciliation, and financial reporting systems.
• Experience with microservices, containerization (e.g., Docker), or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
• Understanding of security and privacy requirements in tolling or transportation systems.
