The Site Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the daily and longer-term efforts focused on product quality improvement and cost reduction, with primary oversight of the received components from an international supply chain.PositionSenior Site Supplier Quality EngineerLocationUSA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create PossibilitiesDrive continuous improvement in quality.
- Liaise between the Supplier Quality and Cost of Quality teams to ensure Electronic/Electromechanical parts are delivered on-time, in the correct quantities, and quality is industry leading
- Own the clear definition of supplied part problems and tracking to permanent resolution / correction
- Manage the implementation of containment plans, root cause analysis, and sustainable solutions
- Track PPM rejects and Service calls caused by supplier defects
- Collaborate with GE Appliance operations, Lean, and suppliers to utilize Lean Six Sigma to eliminate waste and improve customer satisfaction
- Support the supplier part failure analysis (autopsy) process and use findings to drive supplier containment and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement, Testing, and operations teams to drive efficiency/efficacy in repair processes.
- Collect and analyze data as part of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and problem solving.
- Champion the use and development of quality tools to improve supplier performance in Delivery, Quality, Cost, Safety
- Support supplier quality initiatives in developing solutions to fix, or exit, problematic suppliers. Provide feedback to supplier quality teams to identify key areas for improvement at the supplier’s site.
Drive cost reduction.
- Identify and execute projects to reduce scrap cost in assigned areas.
- Work with the Quality Improvement and Testing teams to drive immediate actions/projects to achieve metrics.
- Work with Business and Manufacturing Engineering Leaders to prioritize funding/resources to meet targets, support Continuous Improvement.
Minimum Requirements:
● Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years’ experience with manufacturing quality/quality improvement projects and/or process improvement in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment or equivalent military experience with a proven track record of leadership and development.
● Must be a self-starter.
● Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical, cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company.
● Good organizational, project management and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and vendors.
● Good communication skills – will be expected to provide program report outs to cross-functional team.
● Related experience in electrical/electromechanical parts production and evaluation/testing.
● Experience interpreting data to solve problems associated with high volume, short cycle manufacturing of consumer products.
● Experience in development or sustainment of data collection and measurement systems.
● Ability to work within large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members).
● Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
● Computer literate and skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Minitab and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Related experience in electrical / electromechanical parts.
● Experience with Controls, Systems, or AI.
● Lean Six Sigma green / black belt.
● Excellent communication skills.
● Process focus: supply chain management concepts.
Working Conditions:
● This position will be in Louisville, KY.
● This role requires occasional lifting to 20 pounds and frequent walking.
● Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment and may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots.
● Primary work schedule is the 1st shift. However, support during weekends, 2nd and/or 3rd shift may be required depending on business needs.
● Travel (up to 10%) to suppliers and other manufacturing locations as needed.
