THE OPPORTUNITY

Michelin has an immediate opening for a Senior Site Safety Specialist who provides support and direction to meet the site’s safety objectives.  This position works normal business hours Monday-Friday but supports a team that rotates shifts 24 hours-7 days a week.  Michelin’s purpose is to support everyone’s right to move freely to find their better way forward.  This role is critical to providing an environment that keeps our employees safe and protected.   If respect for people, teamwork and trust are some values you live by you should consider joining us, the Worldwide Leader in Tires!

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Plan, implement, and assess safety programs/processes to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Lead internal audits, inspections, and investigations to coordinate resolution of issues.
  • Develop corrective action plan to respond to internal/external audits and inspections.
  • Facilitate safety trainings for team members, management, sub-contractors at time of new hire orientation as well as ongoing.
  • Create and maintain required safety documents and coordinate with Human Resources for incidents and return of employees to work, as needed.
  • Interpret and advise on the impact of emerging issues, regulations, and legislation to facility operations
  • Evaluate and provide selection advice on existing or emergent risk management control technologies.
  • Facilitate safety incident investigations, injury medical treatment and Worker's Compensation cases
  • Work with management to facilitate risk management decisions.
  • Analyze emerging technology for the identification of potential hazards and control methods.
  • Lead Safety Progress plans committees to drive improvements in the safety culture.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

  • A willingness to work in an industrial plant environment (Monday-Friday on day shift) and must be available to support emergency incident response and work occasional nights and weekends.
  • 3+ years working as a Safety Site Specialist/Engineer within a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or Safety/Health-related subject area.
  • Completion of OSHA’s 30-hour general industry course/certification program is required.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and planning/organization skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work effectively, and efficiently under pressure while leading competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®)/Associate Safety Professional (ASP) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding and experience with workers’ compensation and/or managed care business processes, along with interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standard processes.
