Build and operate a secure, reliable, and cost-efficient web platform; standardize CI/CD and observability; enable fast, safe releases across many sites.
Core Responsibilities
- Cloud infrastructure: Design, provision, and operate AWS services
- Infrastructure as code: Author reusable Terraform modules and standards
- CI/CD and release automation: Build pipelines and implement safe deployment strategies
- Containers and images: Manage Docker base images and ensure supply-chain security
- Web runtime tuning: Optimize web server configurations and CDN performance
- Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions
- Security and compliance: Ensure robust security practices and compliance standards
- Reliability/DR: Implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans
- Cost optimization: Manage cloud costs through various optimization techniques
- Developer experience: Create self-service environments and documentation
- Data and tagging support: Implement guardrails for analytics deployments
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform roles operating production web platforms on AWS
- Strong with Terraform (or CloudFormation), Git, and at least one scripting language (Bash/Python)
- CI/CD expertise, including test automation and zero-downtime deployment patterns
- Containers (Docker) and Kubernetes or ECS in production
- Linux administration, networking, and troubleshooting skills
- Observability tooling and SLO practices; on-call/incident management experience
- Security fundamentals: OWASP, IAM/RBAC, secrets, scanning in pipelines
Nice-to-have Experience
- Drupal/PHP stack operations, Composer, and common accelerators (Varnish, Redis)
- CDN/WAF tuning (CloudFront, Akamai, Fastly; AWS WAF/Shield)
- Policy-as-code, GitOps, Packer/AMI hardening, Ansible
- Server-side tagging, consent management, cross-domain tracking considerations
- Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer, CKA/CKAD, Terraform Associate

- Cloud: AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront, WAF/Shield, Route 53, CloudWatch)
- IaC/Config: Terraform, Packer, Ansible
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Azure DevOps; Docker; ECR/Artifactory
- Observability: Datadog/New Relic/ELK/CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry
- Web: Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, Varnish, Redis; Drupal familiarity is a plus
- Security: SSM/KMS/Vault, Snyk/Dependabot/Trivy, OIDC/SAML
- Analytics: GA4/Adobe, GTM/Tealium, server-side tagging (optional)
