Role Overview
We are seeking a high-impact Senior SDET Engineer to serve as the definitive guardian of our production environment. As the sole resource dedicated to the intersection of Quality Assurance and Cloud Operations, you will be the primary line of defense against breaking changes.
We are a rapidly expanding company deploying to many new customers and in order to ensure that we meet our roadmap and feature commitments, we are in need of a team member focused on ensuring the overall integrity of our existing platform and features.
This is not a "check-the-box" testing role. We need a seasoned professional who has navigated the complexities of enterprise-grade systems across multiple customer instances and possesses the technical authority to ensure teams are working within a framework for strong Agile Development with a focus on quality. You will participate in maintaining our AWS cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines while architecting a testing framework that ensures our technology platforms are performant, compliant, and resilient.
Core Responsibilities
- System Gatekeeping: Act as the primary authority for production readiness, ensuring that no code reaches our users without meeting rigorous quality and performance benchmarks.
- End-to-End Testing Strategy: Design and execute comprehensive test strategies across multiple product platforms for complex, data-driven SaaS services.
- AWS Infrastructure & Deployment: Own the CI/CD workflows within GitHub, GHA, and AWS (CodePipeline/CodeBuild), managing the seamless and secure deployment of services to our cloud environment.
- Automation Leadership: Build and maintain sophisticated automation frameworks (using Playwright, Python, PyTest, or Selenium) to reduce manual testing overhead and increase release velocity without sacrificing stability. Write individual unit tests to increase coverage and automation. Mentor engineers on Unit Testing best practices.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify, communicate, and resolve defects and compliance risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Process Architecture: Continuously refine our QA processes and DevOps tooling to align with enterprise standards and HIPAA/PHI compliance requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an advocate for quality—someone who understands that "done" means "tested, secure, and stable." You should be comfortable standing your ground to protect the integrity of the system.
- Enterprise Experience: Proven track record working within complex, high-stakes environments where accuracy and data security are paramount.
- Technical Versatility: Deep expertise in API testing (Postman/Newman), web-based SaaS applications, and AWS-based infrastructure management.
- Leadership Presence: Capability to advocate for quality as part of a cross-functional team through sprint ceremonies, providing the technical vision for how we build and deploy software.
- Detail Obsession: An exquisite attention to detail and a refusal to accept "good enough" when it comes to system performance or compliance.
- Agile Proficiency: Extensive experience in Agile Scrum environments, acting as a proactive partner to developers to ensure testable architecture from day one.
Technical Requirements
- AWS Expertise: Proven experience managing AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) and containerization (ECS/EKS).
- Languages & Testing Tools: Python, PyTest, Playwright, Selenium, Postman/Newman.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Advanced proficiency in GitHub Actions integrated with AWS deployment services.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to maintain environment consistency.
- Compliance: Direct experience with HIPAA/PHI compliance within an AWS shared responsibility model.
- Education/Experience: 3+ years in QA/SDET/DevOps roles, with a focus on solo-resource management or team leadership in enterprise settings.
