SMX is seeking a Senior Scrum Master to support the delivery of secure cloud infrastructure and services for a federal customer. You will be instrumental in facilitating Agile practices and sprint execution across multiple scrum teams working on AWS GovCloud IL5 systems. This role offers the opportunity to help drive high-impact modernization and security-focused efforts within a collaborative DevSecOps environment, making a direct contribution to a program of national significance. This position is a hybrid role supporting a Herndon, VA based team.
Essential Duties:
- Lead Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming) across multiple concurrent scrum teams.
- Ensure consistent Agile practices are followed, remove blockers, and support team velocity and quality goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison between product owners, engineering teams, and project leadership to ensure alignment of deliverables and priorities.
- Track and report on sprint metrics, team performance, and delivery status using Jira and related tools.
- Guide and coach team members on Agile principles and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help manage sprint backlogs and ensure clear communication of goals and dependencies across stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with technical leads, cybersecurity personnel, and cloud engineers to ensure ATO and IL5 security compliance is embedded in sprint outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience:
- BA/BS in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master in Agile environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple scrum teams in parallel.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) delivery experience
- Proficiency with Jira and Agile reporting dashboards/tools.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure projects, Agile delivery, and team dynamics.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting secure cloud programs or DevSecOps initiatives in federal environments.
- Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, IL5 compliance, and DoD Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA).
- Knowledge of RMF, STIGs, or compliance-driven development frameworks.
- Experience with Confluence, GitLab, or other collaboration and DevOps tools.
